SHAMROCK AT CORK: SHAMROCK heads to Cork today for their flat card which gets underway at 2.25. His NAP runs in the 3.00.

There are a couple of decent looking newcomers in the maiden at 3.00 but the benefit of experience cannot be underestimated at this stage of the season.

The David Wachman trained filly, Tango Time, made a hugely encouraging debut in a big (20 runner) field at the Curragh on debut and although beaten 4 1/2 lengths by the winner Iveagh Gardens – she finished the same distance in front of the third placed runner. With normal improvement, and given that Curragh form uusually stands up well, she should prove hard to beat.

Aidan O’Brien runs the 600,000 guineas debutant The Warrior in the opener but for reasons documented earlier this week I am staying clear of the yard’s runners given current form. In any case, he may find Altertness too strong on this occasion. Jim Bolgers runner has the benefit of experience and shaped well enough on debut at the Curragh when fourth to Beach Belle in a race he was sent off favourite for. The runner-up in that race, Bwana, went on to win next time out.

Bush Pilot was a nap for me on debut but found Miss Gally Rio too strong at Limerick. With that run under his belt I’m happy to give him another chance in the closing maiden at 5.40.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Tango Time (3.00 Cork)
NEXT BEST: Bush Pilot (5.40 Cork)
