CORKING NAP: Shamrock is in the mood for another naps run  having landed his Saturday nap with FORTIFY (NAP) WON 7/4 – his only bet of the day.

It turned out to be a brilliant day for Aidan O’Brien in Dubai.

Lines Of Battle (15/2) landed the UAE Derby despite edging to his right close home.

And then St Nicholas Abbey put up a magnificent performance to land the Dubai Sheema Classic at Meydan under an inspired Joseph O’Brien ride.

O’Brien opted to kick on entering the straight and while Gentildonna gave chase, she never quite looked like she would get there and in the end was well-held.

Recording his first winner on Dubai World Cup night, O’Brien junior was quick to salute a horse who has also given him success at the Breeders’ Cup.

He said: “I felt I was a little bit unlucky last year and just got going a bit late, I was doing all my best work coming to the line.”

O’Brien then had another winner – Fortify at Cork !!!! The most important one (well through my eyes anyway) as it was my Saturday nap and returned a decent 7/4.

We’ll bid to follow-up with Courage in the opener at Cork today. This one is trading around 2.7 on BETDAQ and looks a sensible bet in which few can be given a major chance.

Needless to say he was no match for the 1/6 chance Djakadam at Limerick last time out but wasn’t disgraced either and should go very close here.
