GOWRAN PARK and LIMERICK: Stage flat and jumps card respectively on Sunday. Ruby Walsh was back with a winner yesterday – in France, onboard the hugely promising Un De Sceaux at Auteuil.

Un De Sceaux shortened slightly in the Champion Hurdle betting after winning the valuable Grade Three Prix Leon Rambaud at Auteuil in France.

The Willie Mullins trained runner remains unbeaten in nine career starts and it was another all the way success yesterday for the talented six-year-old.

He had to be kept up to his work in the closing stages on the soft ground.

Mullins is unsure whether Un De Sceaux will run again before being given a summer break, saying: “It was a good performance as the ground is very testing and he was staying on well at the end.

“I don’t have anything else in mind for him at this stage, but we’ll have a look at the French calendar when we get home. I don’t think there is anything in Ireland or England for him, so if he is to run again it will probably be in France.

At Gowran Park today it looks a very disappointing field for the Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes – a Listed contest for fillies at 3.35.

Most of the field look thoroughly exposed with the exception of Exotic who made a winning debut at Galway on heavy ground last August and hasn’t been seen since and the Dermot Weld trained filly I’m Yours who has the benefit of a recent run, fourth in a Listed contest at Navan. Preference has to be for I’m Yours in race in which the stable has done well in over the years.

Lord Adare should outclass his rivals in the 3.20 at Limerick. He has had both his starts here – winning one and finishing second in the other and despite the big field this will take little winning.
