TWO GROUP RACES ON THE CARD AT LEOPARDSTOWN TONIGHT: SHAMROCK previews the two Group races on the evening card at Leopardstown this evening.

It’s been a case of close but no cigar so far this week.

The gambling Gods have been against us with a lay selection winning by a nose on Tuesday and then last night out nap Minalisa going down by a head and we didn’t get any help from the stewards in the subsequent inquiry.

We head to Leopardstown this evening for the two Group races.

6:15 Korean Racing Authority Tyros Stakes (Group 3) (2yo, Class 1, 7f, 6 runners)

This race often throws up a good horse and occasionally a champion. New Approach won it in 2007 and the following year Rip Van Winkle. Aidan O’Brien has a good record in the race and runs two this year – the pick looking Sir John Hawkins on jockey bookings. I like the Ger Lyons trained Exogenesis though who comes here on a hat-trick and won well here last time suggesting he can handle the step-up in class.

7:20 Jockey Club Of Turkey Meld Stakes (Group 3) (3yo+, Class 1, 1m 1f, 7 runners)

Weld doesn’t just rhyme with Meld – it’s also a race he’s won for the last three seasons with Famous Lane. Weld relies on Along Came Casey this year. On the formbook though Mars should be the one. He takes a welcome step down in class after being campaigned at the highest possible level and should gain a deserved success at this level.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Mars (7.20 Leopardstown)
NEXT BEST: Exogenesis (6.15 Leopardstown)
