SHAMROCK LANDED A 5/1 WINNING NAP LAST NIGHT: When his only bet of the day FIESOLANA (NAP) WON 5/1 in the Group 3 Brownstown Stakes at Fairyhouse.
After a quiet spell on the naps, and being denied by a head on Tuesday, it was nice to get back amongst the winners last night when Fiesolana held on gamely (by a head in my favour this time !) to win the Group 3 Brownstown Stakes.
It’s good to firm ground at Leopardstown tonight which might explain the smaller field sizes than normal at the course.
Indeed just four runners go to post for the opening fillies race over six furlongs. On official ratings there is nothing to choose between the top three on the card and finding an edge looks impossible here.
The 6.15 race looks interesting and it will be a braver punter than me who backs Intensified here after he was turned over at 1/5 at the Curragh over the weekend. He has now finished second in all three starts at odds of 11/4, evens and 1/5 the problem for those out to recover losses is that this race looks quite hot – certainly better than the race he was beaten in on Saturday.
I thought Mansion House at around 4.5 was the bet. He broke smartly and made all the running to win a Limerick maiden by five lengths.
He is penalised here but might be able to defy that with normal improvement from first to second start. Exogenesis won well on fast ground at Fairyhouse and is the danger.
