HOBSONS CHOICE AT PUNCHESTOWN: Racing resumes in Ireland on Thursday and SHAMROCK bids to continue his run of winning naps at Punchestown.

Racing is back – thank goodness !!

Best bet for me today is Thomas Hobson in the Buy Your 2016 Annual Membership Hurdle at Punchestown (1.55pm).

The BETDAQ market points towards yet another Willie Mullins / Gordon Elliott match and preference this time has to be for the Mullins trained Thomas Hobson.

He still ‘owes’ punters after falling on his hurdling debut at Listowel when sent off a 1/3 chance. He may well have been beaten anyway that day as he was still a length behind eventual winner Wes Hardin.

Thomas Hobson made amends next time out at Galway when winning a maiden hurdle despite again making jumping errors.

He put in his best effort last time when chasing home Three Stars in a Grade 3 at Navan where his jumping improved and could well be suited by the step up in trip to two and a half miles this afternoon.

Jetstream Jack has been ridden by Ruby Walsh (now on Thomas Hobson) in his latest two starts and was a very moderate third (beaten 30 lengths) at Galway before gaining his first win over hurdles over today’s trip at Clonmel last time out. It was a good effort and he has a tick in the ground and distance boxes but I just feel that Thomas Hobson may have more class – providing his jumping holds up.
