ROAD TO CHELTENHAM VIA IRELAND: Irish hopes are high for next week’s Cheltenham Gold Cup.

SHAMROCK’s bid for four winning naps in a row is on ice until racing at Downpatrick on Wednesday.

Just seven days now until the Cheltenham Festival and Irish hopes are high in the blue riband event, the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Friday.

Connections of the Noel Meade trained Road to Riches fear just one horse – and that’s fellow Irish raider Carlingford Lough.

Road To Riches was last seen when winning the Lexus Chase over Christmas at Leopardstown.

Eddie O’Leary, racing manager for owners, Gigginstown Hose Stud, is wary of the threat posed by Carlingford Lough – partnered by Tony McCoy.

O’Leary told the Guardian: “Road To Riches is a nice horse who goes with a chance, but if you ask me who the right horse is for a Gold Cup, I’d be all over JP’s horse.”
