PRINCE DE BEAUCHENE OUT: Willie Mullins has confirmed that leading Grand National fancy Prince De Beauchene will miss the race because of injury.

Prince De Beauchene will miss the Grand National.

The 10-year-old was around the 14.0 on BETDAQ for the Aintree showpiece after winning two of his three races this season and finishing second to Roi Du Mee in a Grade 2 at Fairyhouse last time out.

Mullins’ charge was favourite for the 2012 National but was withdrawn a week before the race with a similar setback.

The Irish champion trainer will now rely on likely favourite On His Own, like Prince De Beauchene owned by Andrea and Graham Wylie, with Quiscover Fontaine and Quel Esprit also featuring among the remaining entries.

A statement on Mullins’ website read: “We have had some bad news about Prince De Beauchene.

“He had not been striding out for the last few days and following a bone scan at Troytown Veterinary Hospital, it has been confirmed he has a minor stress fracture in his illium.

“He will require at least six weeks box rest so unfortunately he will miss the Aintree Grand National.”
