Regular correspondent, Beverley, speculated that my nap today might be Schubert in the 5.50 at Killarney. I appreciated the suggestion but Schubert has so far proven to be a layers dream and I’m not sure I want to be chancing an eight race maiden with defeats at 1/2, 4/5, 5/4 and 11/8 on his CV.
For the same Aidan O’Brien stable, Idaho is another possible for the nap in the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York this afternoon. He surely deserves a prize like this after placed efforts in both the English and Irish Derby’s and will be on course for the Ladbrokes St Leger with a good run today.
I’m saving the best until last though (hopefully) with Triplicate (again Aidan O’Brien) in the 8.20 at Killarney. Triplicate also has a St Leger entry and won easily at Galway last time out. He should be good enough for biggest danger Savannah Storm.
