THE BETDAQ PUNTER is back – hoping to build on a fantastic last weekend when his football treble obliged and he converted a 4.5 point into a return of 39.5 points.

He returns this week with bets on the football, racing and NFL.

He also has an advance word on a horse at Wolverhampton next week.

An amazing start to 2013 and long may it continue – for all of us if things work out the way I want them to and this start continues!

Friday

Friday is an awkward day, work gets in the way of planning my punting weekend ahead and stops me having too many bets as well – whatever is the World coming to lol? I had to settle for two bets in Ireland in the end with a big win bet on Zaidpour going astray at BETDAQ odds of 2.55 which will teach me to listen to other people all of the time! He clearly doesn’t stay three miles in a truly run race at this level and I should have known – though hardly my first mistake of 2012 or even my last! I did make most of my losses back though by laying Sir Des Champs who cannot jump for toffee (cue abuse from all his fans). There were plenty of punters queuing up to take the 3.4 I offered and as expected, he clattered a few, though he did run on well and leave me sitting on the edge of my chair, biting my tongue as I watched the race on my tablet and trying to keep quiet.

Saturday

The biggest best day of most punting weeks and the one when I usually get carried away and lose most of my hard earned profits from earlier in the week. This Saturday was the exception to that rule as most went right – nothing is ever perfect. Two bets on the horses saw the most amazing ride by A P McCoy on board my selection Colour Squadron in the novice chase from Newbury after the saddle slipped early in the race yet he still kept the combination intact and managed to steal second place. My 3.4 on BETDAQ was good value but we never had a chance, though he could well be a lay net time out – he didn’t jump very well overall regardless, and will be a short price after all the hype about the ride, not the horse! My other bet was on the A P McCoy ridden Taquin Du Seuil who caught my eye the race before when winning at Sandown. I had hoped for better than the 2.8 I stole on BETDAQ I hoovered pretty much all of that (though there wasn’t much to be fair), and he won the 2.45pm with any amount in hand, leaving me to focus on the football. Many of you will have noticed that I would struggle to tip rubbish lately (such fickle friends!), but everything slotted itself in to place and the three doubles and a treble all came off and not an odds on shot among them. With so many people playing the markets I managed to better all the prices I quoted last week on BETDAQ with 2.3 Spurs, 3.6 Wigan and 2.2 Tranmere and even small doubles and a treble turned four half point bets in to a very nice 39.5 point return, thank you very much.

Sunday

A lazy day in every way from getting up late to precious few bets worth bothering with to be honest. I did place my American Football bet to a small stake but that was a waste of time, and nothing really caught my eye on the horses either. Football was exactly then same as an Everton supporter I never back them or bet against them if I can avoid it, and the price of Liverpool at QPR was too short to bother with – so a day off then!

Monday

All very quiet again today, no football but I have been told by a friend about a horse with an each way chance tomorrow and I am already getting excited – heard that before though and I won’t be going crazy but we all like a bit of “inside information”! This afternoon sees some mediocre action so I go for a second day off to save my money for tomorrow, we will soon know if that is a wise decision – or not!

Tuesday

Wolverhampton of all places! My friend at work is a member of PostRacing and they have a charity horse (all winnings are split between various charities) called Rosie’s Lady. A quick look at her form told me she wasn’t very good but then neither were her rivals in the 4.35pm at Wolverhampton (under floodlights), and I was told she had a good each way chance. I missed all the early 9.0 or better that others (apparently) latched on to as she was backed from 8/1 to 11/2 at the track but I did get on with BETDAQ at 7.8 the win and 2.6 the place and shouldn’t moan about it I suppose? She won well enough but it was never a certainty and I had my heart in my mouth expecting something to come out of the pack, but the gamble was landed and my account looks a whole lot healthier. One bet one winner – job done for the day thank you very much.

Wednesday

For some reason I decided to have another go at my odds on system (back all odds on doubling the stake after a loser), possibly some sort of Dutch courage thanks to a swelling BETDAQ account after yesterday? Five winners but four losers didn’t help but as I was only messing about there was little damage done but I won’t be doing that again until I get really bored…?

Thursday

Can lightning strike twice? My “Postracing” friend tells me they own a small part of Hiddon Coin (who is it who can’t spell?), and that they are pretty confident he will win the claimer at Wolverhampton this afternoon. No each way prices this time so it’s an “on the nose” job, and I snap up some of the 2.8 on BETDAQ, but decide to keep most of my money in the account to live to fight another day. Naturally, that proves to be a massive error as he wins as he pleases and I am left wondering why everyone I know had more money on the horse than I did?

Conclusions:

Bet of the week – FOOTBALL! Not only did my doubles and a treble come off but I had a bigger bet on Wigan to win at Villa as well at 3.6 – thank you BETDAQ layers!!

Disaster of the week – Not having enough on either Rosie’s Lady or Hiddon Coin!

Something for the weekend:
The football will be trickier than normal this week with the FA Cup seeing shocks and players rested so how can we second guess likely results when we have no idea what teams will be out on the pitch? As you would expect, that will not stop me having a bet but it will be kept smaller than normal – no point in giving it all back when we can save it for another day. A simple bet like last week could pay off again, so three teams it is to be backed in small doubles and a treble as I am looking for mini shocks. Crystal Palace at home to Stoke looks an interesting match up and I am hoping Wilfred Zaha plays as I can see his pace giving the Stoke defence a really torrid time. The Eagles may see this as a test of their abilities should they be promoted for next season, so will hopefully field a strong side, and at odds of 3.2 could be worth including. As a local boy to Crawley, I can tell you the place will be buzzing for the visit of Reading, but I can also tell you the pitch at home is appalling and they seem to play their best football away from the Broadfield Stadium. The 2.6 on BETDAQ about the Premiership side looks like an insults, though as mentioned I am wary of what sides walk out on to the pitch. Lastly, and I suppose my safe bet (famous last words) will be Wigan who play some decent football and should be way too good for Bournemouth. Even the 1.9 freely available as I write looks like a bargain and they will be the third of my hopefully lucky trio.

On Saturday night/Sunday I am back for more American Football punishment with a quick accumulator on all the favourites, mainly because I haven’t a clue about what is actually going on?! Houston (1.6), Green Bay (1.35), Baltimore (1.4) and Seattle (1.7) are all clearly the ones to beat, so a one-point accumulator will do for me though one is bound to go wrong as always.

Lastly, no horses for the weekend BUT Rosie’s Lady is down to run under a penalty at Wolverhampton on Monday. She may be well in at the weights with just an extra six pounds to carry, and with the luck of Postracing so far in 2013, I cannot bring myself to oppose any horses they are involved with!

This week’s suggested bets (all prices with BETDAQ and correct at the time of writing):

Weekend Football
Three x half point win doubles and a half point win treble – Crystal Palace (3.2), Reading (2.6), and Wigan (1.9), two points total staked.

American Football
1pt Win accumulator Houston (1.6), Green Bay (1.35), Baltimore (1.4) and Seattle (1.7)

Horse Racing
2pts Win Rosie’s Lady Wolverhampton Monday (current race time 3.50pm but subject to change)
