Eliminator: Gujarat Titans v Mumbai Indians

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The pressure is on at the IPL on BETDAQ Betting Exchange! We continue the playoffs with the Eliminator as Gujarat Titans face Mumbai Indians. As I said in my preview of the first playoff game, Gujarat Titans will be kicking themselves to be in this position. They were in the box seat at the top of the table for such a long time, and then fell out of the top two in the final two group games. They left themselves vulnerable losing their final two games, and then had to watch Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru win their final games earlier in the week to jump over them. That would have been painful, but the reality is what’s done is done, and now they have to get to the final the hard way.

Mumbai Indians have had a rollercoaster season too, but in a different way. After finish last in the table last season and starting this tournament with four losses from five games, the alarm bells were ringing loudly. Cue that winning run full of momentum that we’ve seen time and time again from Mumbai Indians in the past – they really play their best cricket when their backs are to the wall regardless of the squad. They put six wins together to shoot up the table. Interestingly, these sides have met twice in the group stage and put times Gujarat Titans won. They won by 36 runs after posting 196/8 very early in the tournament, and then broke the Mumbai Indians winning run off the last ball in a 19 over chase. Hopefully we see that much drama here!

Both sides have clearly had their ups and downs this season. You’d probably say Mumbai Indians come into the game in slightly better shape compared to Gujarat Titans given the way they finished. I feel it will be decided by the key players on both sides, and whoever stands up to play a match winning knock.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

As I said in my preview of the Punjab Kings v Royal Challengers Bengaluru game, we have had four games here this season, but the last one was played on the 20th of April so we’ve had quite a gap. The first inning scores were; 205/4 (won), 219/6 (won), 111 all out (won) and 157/6 (chased). I said it was shrewd to go into the game on Thursday with an open mind on scoring, but for this game we have the ready-made guide on conditions getting a chance to watch the game on Thursday. With just a 24 hour gap, you’d have to expect similar conditions.

RECOMMENDED BET:

Obviously with the break in the IPL this season, we have now bumped into some International cricket and what was once reserved as an IPL window is no more. Some stars have gone home for the playoffs, and these two sides have probably taken the biggest hit I think. Especially Gujarat Titans – they have lost Jos Buttler and Kagiso Rabada – two huge players to come out of any starting XI. Mumbai have lost Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton which is a blow to their top order. Mumbai have brought in Jonny Bairstow to open the batting – and we know he can be very dangerous on a going day. Everything lines-up for Mumbai here in my opinion, and I’m happy to have a small bet on them at 1.64.

The Edge Says:
One point win Mumbai Indians to beat Gujarat Titans at 1.64 with BETDAQ Betting Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

As I write this preview before the opening playoff game, I do feel we’ll get an idea of current conditions in that game. I would base the in-running trading strategy heavily on what happens there – is it going to be an advantage to bat or bowl first, what a par score is. Both sides have had massive setbacks with key players missing from their batting – who knows what kind of form Jonny Bairstow is going to be in for Mumbai Indians too!
