Qualifier 2: Sunrisers Hyderabad v Rajasthan Royals

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The IPL Playoffs continue on Betdaq Betting Exchange as Sunrisers Hyderabad face Rajasthan Royals on Friday. We’re one step away from the Final now, and although RCB finished the tournament with some huge momentum, it’s probably fitting that the final three sides finished in the top three in the table. Rajasthan Royals were robbed of their chance to go past Sunrisers Hyderabad with the rain in their final game, but they only had themselves to blame when losing four games in a row to leave themselves in that situation. With KKR so good throughout the whole IPL, it was always likely this game would involved these sides but RCB had a good go at spoiling the party!

These two sides have had very difficult experiences in the playoffs so far, and we have a fascinating game here. Rajasthan would have come into the week a little low on confidence off the back of four straight losses and then missing out on a top two finish. They are also without their star man Jos Buttler at the top of the order as he was called back by the ECB for the England v Pakistan series. Sunrisers Hyderabad had all the momentum, but they were absolutely hammered by KKR. Bowled out for 159, it only took KKR 13.4 overs to chase it down as the Hyderabad bowlers were smashed to all parts of the ground. KKR have been doing that to a lot of teams at this IPL, but it was a hammering.

Bowling is definitely the weak point for Hyderabad and their batting has won them a lot of games. Their batting simply had to fire here but you can say the same about the Rajasthan batting. Their bowling is definitely better than Hyderabad, but I would say their batting is weaker. Whoever wins the battle between the Rajasthan batters and the Hyderabad bowlers will win the game in my opinion.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

The show moves to Chennai for the Final two games, and although Ahmedabad is the world’s biggest cricket stadium, the history in Chennai makes this an excellent place to finish the tournament. Scoring here has definitely been higher than usual this season, and it has followed the trend of a very high scoring tournament – this IPL has broken records. The first inning scores here have been; 173/6 (chased), 206/6 (won), 137/9 (chased), 210/4 (chased), 212/3 (won) and 141/5 (chased). Usually in years past, you want to bat first here at the back end of the tournament but chasing has gone very well here this season.

RECOMMENDED BET:

Both sides clearly have their flaws and their strengths. As I said above, I feel the game will be decided by the Rajasthan batters v the Sunrisers bowlers in whatever innings that happens in. Interestingly, both sides failed with the bat here when they played CSK but obviously CSK know their own conditions very well. It really pays to have strong bowling here, and in that department in my opinion Rajasthan have the edge. We have a very even market, but I would have Rajasthan favourites instead of Hyderabad, and I’m happy to have a small bet at 2.06.

The Edge Says:
One point win Rajasthan Royals to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad at 2.06 on Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

As I said above, in years past usually you’d want to support the side who bats first at Chennai towards the back-end of the tournament. Conditions haven’t been the same here this season to be honest, we have had much higher scoring conditions than usual and chasing has been successful. You want to follow the recent trend to be honest, so I would lean towards the chasing side here even in such a high pressure game. I feel the best in-running angle will be taking on the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling in either innings – they have been the weak point this season for Hyderabad and they were absolutely smashed by KKR already this week.
