USA v Ireland

MATCH OVERVIEW:

It’s crunch time at the T20 World Cup on Betdaq Betting Exchange over the next few days, and we have a fascinating situation coming up. USA face Ireland in Florida with bad weather currently in the area – they got a record amount of rainfall in recent days. As things stand, USA are sitting in second place behind India after already beating Pakistan in a Super Over earlier in the tournament. A washout here would send the USA through, while knocking out Pakistan. A loss for Ireland will also see them going home, however given they started their tournament with a loss to Canada they were always on the backfoot.

Once USA beat Pakistan, it was always going to be a long way back for Pakistan. They needed USA to lose every game and then to win every game. USA were always expected to lose against India, and from a Pakistan point of view this was always going to be the crunch game. On paper, Ireland are the bigger side – they have a lot more experience and are a full member. USA are an associate nation – some cricket fans don’t even want associates at the World Cup! That being said, USA have been much stronger at this tournament. Obviously they have drafted in a lot of Ex-Internationals with experience. Ex-New Zealander Corey Anderson being the biggest name, but the reality for Ireland is that they haven’t been good enough.

The Irish board has had major issues; they have had to cancel multiple tours in recent years and indeed host matches outside their own country. Despite being a “bigger nation” on paper in cricketing terms, their performances here haven’t reflected that. The USA have a superb chance of reaching the Super 8s, whether it rains or not!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

As I said above, we have major weather worries here. We’ve had record rainfall in the Florida area over recent days, and the outfield must be very wet. That’s not even allowing for more rain. This game going ahead is definitely a major doubt; but we could also have a shortened game. You don’t need me to tell you how important it is for Pakistan and Ireland to get onto the field; however a washout would put USA through – I’m sure the ICC will want to keep a close eye on the ground staff!

RECOMMENDED BET:

It’s unlikely that we see a full 20 over game here, but whatever happens with the weather I was very surprised to see Ireland as the odds on favourites. The 2.4 on USA looks exceptionally good value – as I said above, on paper there’s a big gap between the sides but not on the field. Ireland were poor with the bat and ball against Canada; a side USA beat comfortably. Ireland have had some major issues off the field – exiting the World Cup without a win would just be another huge setback for a board already in a terrible state. USA have been superb at this tournament though, and the 2.4 looks massive here.

The Edge Says:
Five points win USA to beat Ireland at 2.4 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

The in-running strategy is going to revolve around what the weather does here. As I said above, it is unlikely we get the full 20 over game given the weather so I feel this game will be about working around the weather and see what happens as regards to overs bowled etc. Generally with poor overhead conditions, you’d want to be on the bowling side but Florida isn’t exactly like England or Ireland! I feel the best play here will be supporting the USA bowling against the weak Irish middle order – that’s where we can see the most market movement.
