Sunrisers Hyderabad v Chennai Super Kings

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The IPL continues on Betdaq Betting Exchange with Sunrisers Hyderabad hosting the Champions Chennai Super Kings on Friday afternoon. This is the second game at Hyderabad, and we saw the record score posted for IPL cricket in the opening game here! The Sunrisers posted a whopping 277/3 with some incredible six hitting along the way. Scoring conditions were immense; at one point Mumbai looked like they could actually get close but they finished on 246/5. Unfortunately for Hyderabad, that’s been their only win – two losses against Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans has them on the backfoot early in the tournament.

CSK started the tournament superbly, but a recent loss against Delhi Capitals has brought them back to earth with a bump. They were never going to go unbeaten anyway, it is the IPL after all but given that Delhi have looked quite average at times – especially last season – that result was a surprise. They didn’t bowl well enough and left their batters with a massive task in the second innings. It will be interesting to see how they get on here away from home again with exceptionally good batting conditions expected again.

It really was a road in the first game here, and conditions like that take a lot of skill out of the game. It should bring the sides closer together; if it’s very easy to bat and everyone can score quick runs then it will just be about who goes quicker or hits the most sixes. The bowlers will have a tough time; one wonders how many spinners CSK play. An interesting game awaits.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

As I said above, we saw an incredible game here. 227/3 played 246/5. We might not get that many runs – it was remarkable after all – but I think we can safely say over 200 might be par here! That’s a lot of pressure batting first, especially with no run rate to aim at but with batting conditions so good it just might be a case of whacking it everywhere again. Scoring conditions were good here last season too; obviously we didn’t see anything incredible but the side batting first went over 170 in five of the seven games. Expect runs again.

RECOMMENDED BET:

As I said above, incredibly easy batting conditions usually brings the sides closer together. It definitely does take away an element of skill. CSK are the favourites here at 1.84, as you would expect given they are Champions. I’m happy with a small bet on Hyderabad at 2.16 if they bat first though. I know CSK have a good bowling line-up, but if they go with a lot of spin here we could see a lot of sixes. There really wasn’t anything in the wicket for any of the bowlers in the opening game here. I just think the conditions will make it a 50/50 game, and we know Hyderabad have the talent for hitting.

The Edge Says:
One point win Sunrisers Hyderabad (if they bat first) to beat Chennai Super Kings at 2.16 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

If we get similar conditions to the opening game here, and there’s no reason to think that scoring won’t be easy again, then the only strategy here is to support the side that bats first and then think about trading out at the innings break. Obviously we might not see another record score, but you’d expect another high scoring game and you don’t want to be on either bowling side here for long!
