THE EDGE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Wednesday’s IPL clash between Lucknow Super Giants v Mumbai Indians with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The pressure is on as we have the IPL Eliminator on BETDAQ Betting Exchange on Wednesday! Lucknow Super Giants clash with Mumbai Indians after the sides took the final two playoff spots. They were made sweat for it as they had to watch RCB against Gujarat Titans but Mumbai Indians fans were delighted to see Gujarat claim their tenth win of the tournament. Mumbai always take it right down to the wire, but you have to give them huge credit this season.

They finished bottom of the table last season, and the jury was fully out after they lost their opening two games this season. Since then though they have been excellent and whatever happens here they can hold their heads high. They bump into a side with three straight wins in the shape of Lucknow Super Giants, and one of those wins was against Mumbai too! The sides met on the 16th of May, and we had a cracking game with Lucknow Super Giants posting 177/3 and defending it by five runs. Marcus Stoinis really was the difference that day with 89 runs off just 47 balls.

I have to say when I look at the sides, Lucknow Super Giants look a lot stronger on paper. Their middle order looks much stronger, and you could say that was a big difference when the sides met recently. Mumbai were 90/1 after Rohit Sharma got out and should have won the game from there. Mumbai really need Sharma to go big here, and that’s intense pressure – sometimes he can start slowly as well. What a fascinating game ahead.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

The first inning scores here have been 217/7 (won), 175/8 (won), 134/7 (chased), 200/4 (chased), 139/8 (chased), 167/8 (won) and 144/6 (chased) prior to the first playoff game here on Tuesday. I would definitely put a big weight on what conditions are like on Tuesday because we’re likely to get the same conditions here. We can also get a heavy dew at Chennai, that’s the bigger factor in what to expect – we have had quite a range in scoring here this season so I wouldn’t go into this game set on a certain score. Usually a Chennai it’s a score of 200+ or 140 is competitive!

RECOMMENDED BET:

I was really surprised by the odds here when I clicked into the game. I felt we’d see a market close to 50/50, but Mumbai are the clear favourites at 1.72. For me Lucknow Super Giants are excellent value at 2.26 – as I said above, their middle order will be a huge asset here and their bowling is top class too. To be honest there wasn’t much at all between the sides only a week ago and I don’t see there being much between the sides here again. The 2.26 on Lucknow jumps off the page as value.

The Edge Says:
Three points win Lucknow Super Giants to beat Mumbai Indians at 2.26 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Because we’ve had quite a range of scores here, I wouldn’t go into the game with a set plan scoring wise. I feel it’s a tough decision to bat or bowl first, and when that’s the case it’s hard to fully form a confident in-running trading strategy because there is no clear edge. The best in-play option here might be supporting the Lucknow middle order – they did very well against Mumbai recently and I would also be keen to take on the Mumbai middle order who might crumble under pressure.
