Gujarat Titans v Delhi Capitals

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The IPL continues on Betdaq Betting Exchange with Gujarat Titans taking on Delhi Capitals on Wednesday afternoon. All is not yet lost for these two, but the pressure is definitely on in the race for the playoffs. Last week I felt Mumbai Indians v RCB was effectively a knockout game, and I think the same can be said for this one too. Delhi Capitals have been towards the bottom of the table since the start of the tournament but a win at the weekend gives them a small chance of getting back into this mix. They must win this game too though!

Gujarat Titans clearly haven’t been as strong as they were in their opening two seasons as a franchise, but we knew that was going to be the case coming into this tournament having lost some stars and with injuries too. Three wins and three losses isn’t a bad record, but it’s hard to see them troubling the top three. Really they are battling for that fourth spot now, and much like Delhi, they do need a win here. I would suggest a win for Delhi keeps their hopes alive but it’s still hard to see them troubling the playoff places by the end of the tournament. Gujarat definitely have a better chance, but you’d still call this a must win game.

Whatever happens, the loser is massively on the backfoot here so the stakes couldn’t be higher. Obviously given their records, both sides have had their issues. The Gujarat bowling has been an issue for them, and although they managed to pull off an incredible final ball win against Rajasthan Royals last week they still conceded 196/3. Likewise, bowling has been a problem for Delhi – they have conceded scores of 272/7 and 234/5 already this season.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

This will be the fourth fixture at Ahmedabad; the world’s largest cricket stadium. We have a pretty busy run of fixtures still left here given they will host a couple of the playoffs. It’s an incredible venue for cricket though! So far scoring has been pretty good; the first inning scores have been 168/6 (won), 162/8 (chased) and 199/4 (chased). I still feel that Mumbai should have chased in the opening game here but a mid-to-lower order collapse/slow down stopped that. They looked in full control while Rohit Sharma was there. I’d bowl first if I won the toss.

RECOMMENDED BET:

We have interesting market here; Gujarat are decent favourites at 1.77 and I have to say I wasn’t expecting that much of a gap between the sides. That’s quite big by IPL standards, and I don’t think there’s that much between the sides. I know Delhi have had their issues but it has mainly been their bowling along with Gujarat Titans really. I think we have two poor sets of bowlers here over all – obviously they have their leaders but there are soft overs in both sides. I just expect a closer game than the odds suggest, and I’m happy with a small bet on Delhi at 2.26 or bigger.

The Edge Says:
One point win Delhi Capitals to beat Gujarat Titans at 2.26 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

As I said above, Mumbai Indians should have chased here in the opening fixture and that would have made it three successful chases. I think chasing will offer a slight edge, nothing to go crazy about but I’d definitely support the chasing side. It’s hard to have confidence in either set of bowlers to be honest, and with reasonably good batting conditions expected I would only focus on finding trades on either batting side. We saw a very high scoring game in the last game here; you wouldn’t be surprised to see a repeat of that.
