CARIBBEAN PREMIER LEAGUE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews the Caribbean Premier League match on Sunday between St Kitts & Nevis Patriots v Trinbago Knight Riders with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

The Edge has been a professional cricket trader for over 12 years, and we are delighted to have his columns on BETDAQ Tips. He provides his best bets on a points scale between 1 and 5, with 5 being a rare max bet.

Because we see so much action in-running on cricket, he will also provide some in-running strategies that could develop in-play and lead to some excellent value bets. The Edge covers all forms of cricket: Test Matches, ODI’s and T20’s but his favourite competition is the Indian Premier League each season.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

It’s the final day of the Caribbean Premier League Group stages! We start the day with St Kitts & Nevis Patriots taking on the league leaders Trinbago Knight Riders. St Kitts have nothing to play for as they sit bottom of the table while you could say the same about Trinbago as they are clear at the top of the table. Trinbago will want to stay sharp and keep their unbeaten record as they head into the Playoffs next week.

St Kitts have been very poor for the whole tournament and are certain to finish last. They have managed one win and seven losses, with a point from a rained off game. Barbados have finished the season terribly (although they won last night), but St Kitts have been the worst side throughout the competition. The way Trinbago have played would suggest it should be all one way traffic today.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We have had some weather worries in the early games, so definitely check the radar before the start time and in-play. We’ve been lucky to only lose one game, and hopefully if we do get rain we don’t lose many overs.

Trinbago have batted first three times since returning to the Brian Lara Stadium and they’ve record three very good scores. They’ve scored 184/4, 174/4 and 175/5. They are by far the best team in the tournament. The other game that they didn’t play saw no first innings score as we had massive rain. St Kitts were 46/0 after 5.4 overs though. Batting is definitely easier in the first game.

RECOMMENDED BET:

We’ve landed some really nice bets on Trinbago in the tournament so far and that can continue today. Even though this game is effectively meaningless, Trinbago look like a great bet at 1.57. If there was anything on the line, then it would be a max bet. Trinbago just look like an all round solid side – they have better batting and bowling than St Kitts and they can get the job done here to complete the league section unbeaten.

The Edge Says:
Three points win Trinbago Knight Riders to beat St Kitts & Nevis Patriots at 1.57 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

While you want to be on the bowling side 90% of the time in the late games, the early games have proven useful to be on the batting side in the first innings. That being said, only Trinbago have batted first here since returning and they are clearly the best team in the competition. I would be very keen to be on them again if they batted first. The St Kitts bowling has been poor.

In an ideal world from a trading point of view, St Kitts would bat first and start well, we could get a nice price on Trinbago before their excellent spinners come on and the St Kitts wickets start to fall. Then with Trinbago’s excellent batting they could win the game from there. I wouldn’t spend too much time trading the St Kitts price as they have been very poor in general.
