MATCH OVERVIEW:

It’s the final game of the Caribbean Premier League Group stages as we move into the Playoffs next week. Both these sides will be in action, however they won’t meet each other again unless they both reach the Final. Jamaica would have been very disappointed to lose against Barbados last night. They put up a very impressive score compared to the other night games but Barbados chased it easily. Bowling has been an issue for both sides.

Jamaica will face Trinbago in the Playoffs on Tuesday while the Zouks will face Guyana. Both sides will need to work on their bowling heading into those games as both Trinbago and Guyana have a better bowling attack. The Zouks have certainly surprised plenty of people this season as their batting as really gelled together well. Jamaica have been hit and miss – but on balance The Zouks are the stronger side on paper. The Jamaica bowling has really let them down.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We had a big surprise last night as Jamaica set 161/4 and Barbados chased it down in 18.2 overs. We haven’t had that in this tournament – usually batting in the night game has been a nightmare. Of course it’s a factor that we start a couple of hours earlier because it’s the weekend, but it was a dramatic change in conditions.

The view after the game was that Jamaica were “15 to 20 runs short on a good wicket.” We haven’t heard that much after the night game! The best advice would be to see how the pitch plays for the first few overs and perhaps don’t expect batting to be as tough as we have seen in the tournament. Touch wood we have had no weather issues with the late games.

RECOMMENDED BET:

This should be a great game just before the Playoffs. It will be very interesting to see who performs better. Personally I think The Zouks are the value at 2.16. I see this as being a 50/50 game between two sides that have been bowling poorly and batting well. At the same time their batting hasn’t been bombproof and we’ve seen some very poor performances. I think The Zouks bowling is marginally better than Jamaica and on an expect good wicket (although wait and see to confirm that) that can win the game.

The Edge Says:
One point win St Lucia Zouks to beat Jamaica Tallawahs at 2.16 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Your in-running strategy will have to change after what we saw last night. Conditions were very difference and the captains said that 160 was short. That’s very surprising considering teams have been struggling to even score 120 in the night game. Obviously a lot of work has gone into the wicket before the Playoffs because fans naturally love sixes and big scores. I’m not sold on expecting big runs however, and I’d have to wait and see what conditions are like. It’s hard to fully commit to a change after just one game!

I don’t fancy either side when bowling as I think their line-up is pretty poor. I would spend most of the game looking for trades on the batting side, especially if conditions are expected to improve for batting. The Zouks usually start well, while the Jamaica middle order can score big runs against this Zouk bowling.
