THURSDAY IPL: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Thursday’s Game 44 between Sunrisers Hyderabad v Chennai Super Kings with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

IPL Game 44 Sunrisers Hyderabad v Chennai Super Kings

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The Indian Premier League heads back to Sharjah on Thursday as Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Chennai Super Kings. I think it’s safe to say we can expect difficult batting conditions and low scoring. I felt we might see some big scores here at the start of the UAE stint but that has proven to be well wide of the mark with the last two games seeing first inning scores of 125/7 and 127/9. Very tough batting conditions might actually suit Sunrisers Hyderabad as it might bring the teams closer together – on paper CSK should win this game easily.

I’m not sure what’s going on in the Sunrisers Hyderabad dressing room, but it isn’t healthy. David Warner has responded to fans on Instagram saying he won’t be playing again and I feel the management have treated him terribly after so many years of service to the team. Who knows, he might actually play again as it appears he has the fans on his side but for the time being it doesn’t look like a happy dressing room. No wonder Jonny Bairstow was happy to pull out because of Covid19 fears too. The Hyderabad side looks pretty weak now, but they do have Rashid Khan who is excellent with the ball and should have a big impact on this Sharjah track.

From a CSK point of view, they don’t have to change much. They have won eight of their ten games and look very likely to finish in the top two. Delhi Capitals have won eight of their eleven games but then there’s a bit of a gap forming to the rest. CSK will be well suited to conditions given how tricky Chennai is for batting, and we should have more dramatic moments from Sharjah! We should have plenty of twists and turns in-play on BETDAQ Betting Exchange.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

As I mentioned above, it’s hard to see anything but a reasonably tricky batting wicket here. I would expect a pretty low score and spinning conditions. Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to chase down 125/7 from the Punjab Kings here recently, but I would actually favour chasing. Given the ground history here, it’s likely the team batting first aims too high and with the short boundaries hitting a six to release the pressure is always an option in the chase. The other two games have saw the chasing side win and part of the Sunrisers issue is they haven’t got many six hitters. So, I’d expect a low scoring game and I’d bowl first if I won the toss.

RECOMMENDED BET:

This will be an interesting market for many because CSK are the shortest price of any side so far on the UAE stint. They are trading around 1.6 and I’m sure that will attract some layers into the market. Thing is, I still feel it’s actually a little big. Sunrisers Hyderabad don’t have much going for them these days, and as I said above they couldn’t even chase down the 125 from Punjab Kings here. CSK have the perfect side for these conditions too given their home ground is Chennai which is usually a tricky batting wicket. I can’t see past CSK here.

The Edge Says: Two points win Chennai Super Kings to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad at 1.6 with BETDAQ Betting Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

There’s a lot of angles here. Technically speaking you want to look for trades on the bowling side and I would go with that angle, but I have to say I don’t have much confidence in Sunrisers Hyderabad apart from Rashid Khan. I will likely just open a trade on the Sunrisers when he is bowling and then avoid them for the rest of the game. They look very weak in the batting department without their stars and CSK have bowled superbly this season so I wouldn’t expect many runs from the Sunrisers. I still feel it’s a slight edge to bowl first, but do you really trust Sunrisers to chase down a low score? They might be worth a trade while bowling and then trade out before they bat given they couldn’t chase 125 here!
