BRIGHTON V CRYSTAL PALACE

8pm Monday Night Football comes from the Amex Stadium this week as Brighton host Crystal Palace in the M23 Derby! Most casual football fans might look at this fixture and think it’s a routine mid-to-low table clash, but it’s a massive game for both sets of fans. It’s a shame they can’t be in the stadium. With Fulham winning at the weekend, there is slightly more pressure on Brighton. They are four points ahead of Fulham which is a reasonable cushion, but it’s only two bad weekends from being in the bottom three too if Fulham went on a winning run.

Despite being within touching distance of a relegation fight, Brighton have actually played some very nice football this season. They have dominated games at times but have been unable to convert their chances into goals. Expected Goals would actually place Brighton fifth in the table, which is incredible when you think about it. That just highlights how good they have been going forward at times this season, and also highlights how poor they have been at taking their chances!

While xG is kind to Brighton, it isn’t so kind to Crystal Palace. It actually puts them into the bottom three on the Expected Goals table. I feel that’s pretty easy to understand as Palace have had a lot of trouble going forward. It’s a problem they have had for a while, and they haven’t solved it this season. Palace come into this fixture off the back of two losses too against Burnley and Leeds, and they were extremely lucky to beat Newcastle 2-1 with Newcastle creating an xG of 2.43.

Looking at the figures heading into this game and also how the teams are performing at the moment, I can only see one winner here. Brighton are a confident bet on BETDAQ Betting Exchange at 1.81 or anywhere around that price. They will definitely create more chances than Palace, and the way Palace have been defending lately it’s hard to see them stopping Brighton from scoring. Couple that with the fact Palace don’t score many goals and I can only see one way traffic tonight.

The Striker Says:
Three points win Brighton to beat Crystal Palace at 1.81 with BETDAQ Betting Exchange
