LEEDS V CARDIFF CITY

7.45pm The FA Cup Third Round replays continue on BETDAQ Betting Exchange on Wednesday with just one fixture. All eyes will be on Leeds hosting Cardiff City after the sides produced an entertaining 2-2 draw the first time they met. Cardiff City were left heartbroken after Leeds equalised in the 93rd minute, and that was after they were 2-0 down. Unfortunately for Cardiff they went down to ten men for the final ten minutes, and from there Leeds took their chance – the away end was absolute carnage when the goal went in!

Hopefully this game is as dramatic, because if it is we’re in for a treat. The FA Cup is a welcome change for both clubs given they are both struggling in their domestic leagues. Leeds suffered another defeat on Friday night away to Aston Villa, and results didn’t exactly go their way at the weekend afterwards. It looks like they are going to get dragged into the relegation battle – they sit in 14th at the moment, but they are only two points ahead of West Ham, Everton and Southampton who all have 15 points sitting in the bottom three now. The results on Saturday certainly opened up the relegation race!

Cardiff have their own relegation worries as they sit in 21st in the Championship. They have a three point cushion over the bottom three, but Huddersfield do have a game in hand on them. Cardiff have been trying to keep games as tight as possible, and they usually aren’t involved in thrillers like the first meeting between the sides! In the Championship their average xG created is only 1.0 but they are solid at the back with an average xG conceded of 1.1. I’d even venture to say their games are pretty boring!

The opposite is true when you look at Leeds. Although they lost 2-1 to Aston Villa last Friday night, they were unlucky. They finished the game with an xG of 2.84 and it was just a case of them not taking their chances. That was their best performance since returning from the World Cup, and they’ll be hoping they can follow that with another impressive performance here. When you look at the Leeds stats, you can’t say their games aren’t entertaining! They create an average xG of 1.6 and concede 1.8 per game in the Premier League. They really do need to fix that stat at the back though!

It will be interesting to see what way the sides play here, and what tactics win out. I would expect Cardiff to be quite cagey and quite negative. Leeds are pretty poor at the back, so Cardiff will get chances at some stage. Although I’d expect Leeds to win, the 1.36 definitely feels a little short in the match odds market. You always have to check the goals market with Leeds involved, and Over 2.5 goals looks a fair price at 1.61. However, I’m happy with a small lay on Leeds at 1.36. They have been so poor at the back, I expect a closer game than those odds suggest.

The Striker Says:
One point lay (liability) Leeds to beat Cardiff City at 1.36 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
