WEDNESDAY CARABAO CUP: The Striker previews Wednesday’s match between PRESTON NORTH END v LIVERPOOL with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

PRESTON NORTH END V LIVERPOOL

7.45pm The Last 16 of the Carabao Cup continues on Wednesday and we have a bumper night ahead with five fixtures. Spurs, Leicester and Man City are all in action tonight, but Sky Sports have picked Preston North End against Liverpool as their highlight fixture so I’m going to focus on that on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. Preston North End have been struggling in the Championship this season, they’ll come into this game sitting in 19th spot but they are six points away from the bottom three so they aren’t under that much stress at the moment.

We all know that Liverpool come into this fixture in exceptional form. They have had a superb week too – they’ve won away to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and Manchester United in the Premier League while scoring eight goals along the way. They completely embarrassed Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, but we have to look at this fixture in a different light as it’s highly likely Jurgen Klopp will play a second XI here.

Liverpool are trading 1.36 at the time of writing, and they would be much shorter if the market felt we would see their best XI. With a busy fixture list and the busy Christmas period not too far away along with their European commitments, this seems an ideal time for Klopp to rest some of his stars. That being said, they were missing a few of their star players on Sunday and still hammered United!

Liverpool have been superb this season, and that confidence will go right through the squad. Plus you have the added bonus of players trying to impress Klopp and break into the starting XI – Liverpool have an amazing first XI but we all know they don’t exactly have a strong squad when they run into injuries so there are places to play for here. Preston have only won three Championship games this season, and you can clearly see they aren’t creating enough chances looking at their xG figures. They are going to have to grind out enough points to stay up, because they aren’t going to blow teams away attacking.

In their 14 Championship games this season, Preston have only created an xG of over 2 once. Even the Liverpool second XI would have a better record going forward than that, and I feel Liverpool can continue their good run here and cover the handicap. I know they will be missing players, but the 1.92 -1.5 goals looks good value.

The Striker Says:
Two points win Liverpool -1.5 goals to beat Preston North End at 1.92 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE
