ALAVES V SEVILLA

8pm It’s been a hectic week around Europe on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE with the new Champions League kicking off, and we’re straight into another cracking domestic weekend starting with Friday night football. We have action from Serie A, the Bundesliga and La Liga on Friday but Alaves hosting Sevilla looks the pick of everything. Sevilla have been through a lot in recent seasons, and they have got off to another poor start this season. Only five points from five games leaves them starting the weekend down in 14th two points behind Alaves.

You could write a book on what has happened Sevilla in recent years, and you still might not be able to explain things fully. It looked like the top four was on lock in La Liga for many years, but now it looks like it will be years before Sevilla can get back into it. Time moves quickly in football. The most bizarre thing about Sevilla is that they haven’t stopped playing good football – their results have just been awful. They spent a lot of the 2022/23 season in the relegation zone but after winning the Europa League and getting back into the Champions League that way, it did look like that season might just have been a blip.

They had a terrible start last season too though, and ended up finishing down in 14th – European football is gone now and obviously that causes a lot of problems with less money, players wanting to leave and then players not wanting to join either. They finished the season with the fifth best attacking figure so they clearly should have been higher, but they just weren’t taking their chances all season. This year they have the third highest average xG created after five games, but once again they aren’t taking their chances.

Their average xG created is 1.63 and they are currently scoring a little under half of those chances. I asked this question last season and the situation is still the same – at what point do you just expect Sevilla to play well and not score? Alaves come into the game as the favourites at 2.12 with Sevilla 4.1 and the draw is 3.45 at the time of writing. Alaves have been solid at the start of the season – all their figures are mid-table level and it was a similar situation for them last season. I’m definitely going to keep stakes low here because obviously the Sevilla situation is tricky, but I do believe they will make this game closer than the odds of 2.12 suggest. Hopefully they start taking their chances, but for the time being stakes have to be kept low on Sevilla games.

The Ultra Says:
One point lay (liability) Alaves to beat Sevilla at 2.12 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
