WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS: Our European football tipster The Ultra previews Thursday’s games between ITALY V NORTHERN IRELAND, SCOTLAND V AUSTRIA and ENGLAND V SAN MARINO all with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

ITALY V NORTHERN IRELAND

7.45pm The World Cup Qualifiers continue on Thursday and we have a big night for the Home Nations. We kick off the evening with BETDAQ Betting Exchange with Italy hosting Northern Ireland in what should be a straightforward home win. The markets agree, with Italy trading 1.16 at the moment. Northern Ireland have been given a tough Group with Italy and Switzerland, and they must be sick of tough Groups at this stage! They were given Germany and the Netherlands for the Euros, but in fairness they’re going to keep getting tough draws unless they improve their ranking. They finished bottom of their Nations League Group again, going six games without a win in a Group with Austria, Norway and Romania.

Northern Ireland have put up some good performances recently, they always give a decent account of themselves, they are just very limited in terms of quality. They will pick up a few results at home, but it’s highly likely they will come up short against the top sides – especially away from home. Italy have been improving in recent years after becoming a poor side when losing some stars. They topped their Nations League Group with Netherlands in it which is a big positive and got into Euro 2021 which was great after the embarrassment of not reaching the last World Cup. I expect a smooth Italy win here, but Northern Ireland will likely put everyone behind the ball and it could be a boring affair. I feel Italy will have to grind out a 1-0 or 2-0 win – in a game where stakes should be kept low, under 2.5 goals look value at 2.16.

The Ultra Says:
One point win Under 2.5 goals at 2.16 with BETDAQ Betting Exchange

SCOTLAND V AUSTRIA

7.45pm Scotland start their World Cup Qualifying campaign with a massive fixture. It’s unlikely they will finish in the top two spots with Denmark and Austria in their Group, but if they are to have any chance of causing an upset it will because of their home results against those sides. Austria are world beaters, it’s just Scotland are very limited and they have more class. Scotland will also face tricky ties against Israel in their Group who they have come up against a lot lately so a good start is very important tonight. Austria topped their Nations League Group, while Scotland performed well in a Group with the Czech Republic topping it. They were unlikely to top that Group, but they still managed a decent ten points in six games.

Austria had a bit of drama in their Nations League Group too, with Romania awarded a 3-0 win against Norway due to Norway being unable to fulfil the fixture due to Covid19. Australia only finished three points ahead of Norway. I think Austria are a beatable side and that’s a fair assessment – it’s just Scotland are at a very low level and will probably be unable to beat them. I think the prices are very fair in the match odds market, with the 2.3 on Austria a fair reflection of their chance of winning. Scotland usually try to keep games very tight and with this being a very important start for them I can see a very cagey game. Austria won’t go all out attack either, and under 2.5 goals looks worth backing at 1.7.

The Ultra Says:
Three points win Under 2.5 goals at 1.7 with BETDAQ Betting Exchange

ENGLAND V SAN MARINO

7.45pm We finish with the biggest certainty of the night as England take on San Marino! You can’t even back England as they are 1.01 to lay before kick off! I don’t think there’s a football fan on earth who thinks England won’t win this game, and this one will be about the side markets and how many goals England can score. Poor San Marino are used to being the whipping boys of the Qualifying stages, however I have to say that the Nations League should really help their development. They will no doubt enjoy playing against the top sides and get to swap shirts at the end for a memory, but it doesn’t really do anything for their progress. They managed two draws in the Nations League and granted they are playing at a very low level – realistically that’s their level and they should be playing there.

The task should be very straightforward for England, and we should see some fringe players given a chance too. Obviously this game is all about handicap betting and goal markets. Even over 2.5 goals is only 1.03! This is clearly a game where stakes should be kept reasonably low, however I do like under 7.5 goals at 1.67. San Marino are really unlikely to score, and while they have lost by big score lines in the past – they are marginally improving so I feel they won’t concede eight. The gulf in class here is so big it’s hard to fully commit to anything, but I feel England will cruise through the game and win by five or six rather than eight or nine. It’s not often you get involved on an under/over 7.5 goal line!

The Ultra Says:
Two points win Under 7.5 goals at 1.67 with BETDAQ Betting Exchange
