FLUMINENSE V DORTMUND

5pm The FIFA Club World Cup continues on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE, and the highlight on Tuesday is Fluminense meeting Dortmund. After struggling with the ticket sales, FIFA would have been pleased to see over 60,000 people in the stadium for the opening game despite having to dramatically reduce ticket prices. That being said, over $200 for a football game was a joke price anyway – without the fans in the stadium football is nothing, and ticket prices at $75 and a full stadium is much better. It’s still interesting to see what happens for the rest of the tournament though.

Obviously the elephant in the room heading into this game is why Dortmund are here over Bayer Leverkusen. Basically, their Champions League performances between 2021-24 got them in through the UEFA coefficient system. It’s obvious now that Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen are the top two sides in the Bundesliga now though, and perhaps going forward FIFA need to look at this. It’s a similar situation given we don’t have Liverpool or Barcelona in the tournament. Fans would probably moan about having more games; but we are definitely missing a few top sides here.

Dortmund come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.59 with Fluminense 6.4 and the draw is 4.5 at the time of writing. Fluminense are one of the heavyweight clubs from South America, but they have struggled in the league recently. They qualified for this by winning the 2023 Copa Libertadores. In 2024, they finished 13th in Serie A, and then this season they are sitting in sixth. It’s early days though and there’s only four points between the top seven. It’s actually hard to know what to expect from Fluminense; their domestic form isn’t great though you’d have to say. Dortmund’s domestic form wasn’t great for a large part of the season either!

However, Dortmund finished the Bundesliga season exceptionally strongly. After looking like they wouldn’t get Champions League Football – they won seven of their final eight games to finish in fourth, finally getting ahead of Freiburg on the final day. The other result in that run was a 2-2 draw away to Bayern Munich too. They ended up finishing the season with the third best attacking figure and the third best defensive figure. If they can continue to bring that momentum into this tournament, then they might actually have a decent chance of going a long way. On paper they have an easy Group too, they should top it and then if Inter Milan win Group E, Dortmund should be into the Quarter-Finals. There, they might meet Real Madrid though, Manchester City or Juventus!

I’m keen to keep stakes low on the first game from every side in this tournament. I feel that’s a shrewd tactic to be honest – just to see where we stand with sides. It’s hard to actually rate the level of Fluminense and then of course with the bigger sides we’ll see motivation levels. In this game, it’s hard to get away from the Dortmund win at 1.59 given the way they finished the Bundesliga season. I do feel the 1.59 offers good value, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves with stakes just yet!

The Ultra Says:
One point win Dortmund to beat Fluminense at 1.59 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
