INTERNATIONAL ACTION: The Ultra previews Wednesday’s Nations League match between POLAND v WALES and the World Cup Qualifier between SCOTLAND v UKRAINE both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

POLAND V WALES

5pm Football never stands still, and we quickly move onto International football on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as the domestic season drew to a close last week. To start the two weeks of International football we have a massive night in the Nations League and World Cup Qualifiers, with Scotland and Ukraine meeting later. We start the evening though in the Nations League as Poland host Wales. This is the start of a huge week for Wales, as on Sunday they will play the winner of Scotland and Ukraine for a place at the World Cup. They did very well to finish ahead of the Czech Republic in World Cup qualifying, and after winning their Nations League Group in 2020/21 they move up into the big time here as they are in Group A4 with Belgium, Netherlands and Poland. Obviously any Group A is where you want to be – it’s a chance to win the Nations League after all, but Wales are going to face a very difficult campaign with a lot of tough matches. Obviously this week they will have all their focus on the World Cup Qualifier, but they also need to start the Nations League on the right note as they are going to struggle against Belgium and the Netherlands.

This is a massive step up for Wales. In 2020/21 they were in a Group with Finland, Republic of Ireland and Bulgaria! They were in the same Group as Belgium in World Cup qualifying – they lost 3-1 away from home and then recorded a massive 1-1 draw in the final Group game that meant they finished ahead of the Czech Republic. Belgium had nothing to play for in that game though, and they will be a difficult animal with a Group win on the line. You feel that Belgium have to win something with this team they have at the moment – they have such a top class team – and perhaps a Nations League win would do the trick. It’s hard to see them winning a World Cup or the European Championships – they always come up short in the big moments. Poland kept their place in an A Group this time, but they are getting weaker. They only finished ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina and only managed one point outside of their games with them. They were a little better in World Cup qualifying, but they were in a very weak Group apart from England. I’m happy to keep stakes small here because this is a big jump up in class for Wales, and they don’t score many goals these days. However, Poland look a little short at 1.83 and I expect a closer game than those odds suggest. They haven’t impressed me in a while, and it will be interesting to see can they deal with Wales here – I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 0-0 or a 1-1 here.

The Ultra Says:
One point lay (liability) Poland to beat Wales at 1.83 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

SCOTLAND V UKRAINE

7.45pm Next we move to a huge game as Scotland meet Ukraine in the World Cup Playoffs. Of course we all know this tie was postponed back in March after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the winner will face Wales on Sunday in the Playoff Final – that fixture will take place in Cardiff. It’s a massive achievement for Scotland to get here, and if they could go all the way it would be incredible for them. They have made tonnes of progress over the last few years – I feel the Nations League really benefitted them and has given them a lot of confidence. That along with a few young stars means they’ve already had some wonderful International nights. The stadium has been rocking with late goals! Obviously this is a difficult situation – Ukraine are going through a terrible time at the moment and the situation will surely effect the players. I saw an interview with Callum McGregor this week saying the Scottish players feel sorry for Ukraine, but they have to focus on their own task ahead. I feel that’s all the Scottish players can do, and no doubt the Ukrainian players will want to boost morale at home too. The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Scotland 2.4, Ukraine 3.6 and the draw is 3.15.

What Ukraine have been through has been awful, but we have to focus on football matters here. As soon as the players cross the line they will go into a different mode. I’m sure Scotland will go into this tie with confidence, Ukraine were relegated from their Nations League Group in 2020/21 – although they were in an A Group which was very tough. They then finished behind France in World Cup qualifying which was a weak Group outside of France. Home advantage will be massive for Scotland, Hampden Park will be rocking here! Scotland even managed to beat Denmark here in their last qualifying game, although Denmark were certain of finishing top so I wouldn’t read too much into that. Scotland are a tempting bet at 2.4 because home advantage is big for them, and they have been playing some nice football lately. However, I do feel under 2.5 goals jumps off the page here at around 1.58. Scotland have been grinding out results, and this will be your classic cagey Playoff game in my opinion. I wouldn’t even be surprised to see a draw to be honest and even more drama afterwards. But unders looks the play here in what should be a very close game without many chances.

The Ultra Says:
Two points win Under 2.5 goals at 1.58 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
