The highlight at Nottingham tonight is the Betfred Eclipse Final the 9.19. The favourite is Exocet in Trap 1 who won the Kent Derby and has an Irish reputation. I’m not sure about the draw but at least he is drawn on the right side of Trap 2 Calzaghe Davy. He had 23 starts in Ireland and wore red once making all to win at Shelbourne in March 2012 and was fast away, he should win a very hard final but is accordingly priced.
Sky Sports 3 coverage starts at 7.34 with a puppy contest where 6 railers go to the start. inexperience combined with bad draws could prove a downfall for most and the ‘fav’ Trap 6 Redbrick Stuart has never run out of Trap 4,5 or 6, I can’t see him beating the draw.
The race to get the wages tonight is the 7.49 the Ladies Standard. I think the ‘fav’ is good value for laying, Airforce Diva. In a race where there is a lot of early which could cause her problems, she is dropping back in trip after running in last weeks Leger Final where she walked the start. The main danger is Charlie Lister’s other winner trap 1 Silverview Pinky who is perfectly drawn in 1. Trap 6 Five Alley Queen also has a chance in what is a drop back in class, she was knocked out of the first round of the Eclipse but has course and distance form and is 3/6 out of Trap 6.
7.49 Take your chance with a lay around 2.0.
The 8.04, the stayers contest, I fancy Trap 4 Boherna Rock . Peter Woods’ Donny raider could go straight to the front which is a short run to the 1st bend, he has 8 victories on his Irish card including one over 750 at Shelbourne. Track and trip look ideal. Trap 1 Toureen Hawk has won a few soft contests at Perry Barr and this is a step up in class. Trap 2 – Bubbly Swallow the Betfred Stayers winner over CD in July is the main danger with her early pace and staying ability. Trap 3 Afew Dollarsmore 5/20 met trouble on a recent visit to Colwick Park and would prefer the rail. Trap 5 Aayamzalad – previously called Melodys Ace is a slow starter having previously won over 714 in Crayford, this might happen too quick. Trap 6 Notoveryet is exposed 63 starts 15 wins 12 over the standard 500m, hasn’t really taken to the step up in trip winning 2/13, is also held by Trap 2 on a recent Sky Nottingham card.
