WEEK AHEAD: With January behind us, it’s time to look forward to an exciting period of sport, which gets underway this week with everything from midweek Premier League action to Superbowl LV.
The week starts at Vicarage Road as Watford, who continue to battle for second spot, host a struggling QPR in the Championship on Sky Sports. More football follows in the next three days as BT Sport show all 10 midweek Premier League games.
On Tuesday, Manchester United look to reassert themselves at the top against Southampton, while at the other end of the table, Sheffield United will hope to continue their good January run against fellow strugglers West Brom.
Wednesday brings five more Premier League games with giant killers Burnley hoping for a repeat performance of their win against Liverpool when they face pacesetters Manchester City. At Anfield, Liverpool host Brighton, where Graham Potters side haven’t won since 1984.
It’s an early start on Thursday as the second and final Test of the series between Pakistan and South Africa begins at 5am, and if the last Test was anything to go, by this should be a real treat, with all five days shown live on Sky Sports.
Elsewhere on Thursday, the golf gets underway with the Saudi International on the European Tour and the Waste Management Phoenix Open on the PGA Tour, both on Sky Sports. The day finishes with a test for new Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel as they visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at 20:00.
It’s a bumper weekend of action too, starting with Aston Villa v Arsenal in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off on BT Sport, before Fulham and West Ham provide the afternoon goods at 17:30.
On Saturday evening, Overeem v Volkov in the UFC is expected to provide heavyweight entertainment, but this is just a prelude to what is truly a Super Sunday of Sport.
The cricket and golf, from Pakistan and Saudi, claims the initial action before ITV Racing bring 10 live races, including four Grade 1s from the Dublin Racing Festival, starting at 13:00.
In what is another heavyweight bout, Jurgen Kloppp faces off with Pep Guardiola as Liverpool try to get their season back on track against Manchester City, live on Sky Sports at 17:30.
And if all of that wasn’t enough, Superbowl LV rounds off the weeks action with the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahome’s looking to secure the win against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
It really is a week of non-stop sporting action.
