WORLD CUP: We preview Tuesday’s four World Cup games between AUSTRALIA V PERU, DENMARK V FRANCE, ICELAND V CROATIA and NIGERIA V ARGENTINA each with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
AUSTRALIA V PERU
3pm Australia can still qualify for the next round by winning here and Denmark losing against France; so they have everything to play for. Unfortunately for Peru their tournament is over, however unfortunately for Australia – Peru have been impressive and probably unlucky to lose their two games – so the Aussies have plenty of work to do.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Australia 3.2, Peru 2.44 and the draw is 3.45. Peru have yet to find a goal in this World Cup as they’ve lost 1-0 to both Denmark and France – they were on top for a lot of the game against France and we’re sure to see plenty of backers of Peru at 2.44. Both teams have scored in both Australia’s games and with Australia needing a win, perhaps we’ll see an open game here. Over 2.5 goals is trading 2.2 and that looks really good value at the odds.

DENMARK V FRANCE
3pm It’s hard to ignore the fact that a draw will do both sides here. Denmark will be happy with second in a Group with France to be fair and France will finish top with a draw – so we could see a pretty dull game here if there isn’t any early fireworks. France are through no matter what; so perhaps the competitive edge will be with Denmark.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Denmark 5.0, France 2.22 and the draw is 2.84. With France already two from two, surely they will be tempted to rest a few of their stars here – or at least take them off early. A draw will see them top the Group so it’s unlikely we’ll see them busting a gut in the final 20 minutes if things are all square. They have laboured at times to score in this World Cup too; and we can see plenty of reasons to lay the French at the odds here. At 2.22, were very happy to lay France from a value point of view.

ICELAND V CROATIA
7pm All eyes will be on Group D on Tuesday night and it’s set to be a fantastic night of football. Croatia are already through with six points from two games; however Iceland have a chance of going through after their draw with Argentina in their opening game. They must win here (hopefully by a good scoreline) and hope the result goes their way in the Nigeria v Argentina game.
Iceland need to attack here, however that has never been their strong point and we could have a very interesting game. At the time of writing, the match odds trade; Iceland 3.65, Croatia 2.26 and the draw is 3.4. Croatia have been very impressive in their opening two games; easily beating Argentina being the high point. We can expect them to rest a few players here, however with Iceland have to play an unnaturally attacking game we can see that playing in Croatia’s hands. It’s tempting to play Iceland and have the draw on our side, however we’re happy to take a chance on Croatia at 2.26. We expect an open game here and Croatia can score plenty of goals on the counter attack.

NIGERIA V ARGENTINA
7pm Here we are – one game for Messi to carry Argentina into the next round, can he pull it off? We’ve seen brilliant performances in this World Cup, however we haven’t seen Messi at his brilliant best and now with the pressure on, he simply has to deliver. Nigeria have done Argentina a favour already when beating Iceland, however they did beat Argentina 4-2 as recently as November so we can’t see this being easy for Argentina.
The truth is that Argentina have played very poorly – they’ve been awful in fact and you’d have to be very brave to back them now. At the time of writing, the match odds currently trade; Nigeria 6.8, Argentina 1.59 and the draw is 4.4. As we saw in qualifying, Argentina have struggled to score goals for quite a while – their build up play is slow and laboured – they appear easy to defend against. Nigeria impressed against Iceland, although is a step up again. From a value point of view, based on what we’ve seen from Argentina already – we simply have to lay them at 1.59. We can see this game being much closer than those odds suggest. The time for Messi to shine is now; but can he do it on the worlds biggest stage?
