PREVIEW
The weekend’s Premier League action starts at the Stadium Of Light and it’s a massive chance for Sunderland to climb out of the bottom three.
That, in itself, is pretty remarkable given the predicament they were in and fans of the Black Cats can also look forward going to Old Trafford with a one goal lead in the second leg of their Carling Cup semi-final. In the same competition Sunderland beat Southampton at the Stadium of Light earlier this season.
There are good reasons to think they can again beat a Southampton side who have gone decidedly off the boil and this week off the pitch has seen their chairman depart.
Saints won for only the second time in 10 Premier League matches at home to West Brom last weekend (W2, D2, L6).
Fulham, on the other hand will be buoyed by their impressive win at Craven Cottage last weekend which saw them climb off the bottom.
If they can record back-to-back league wins for the first time this season, confidence and belief will rise further.
