9-4 WINNER WAS 5.0 ON BETDAQ: Daqman reckoned the 5.0 on BETDAQ about Silk Sari (WON 9-4) was good value yesterday, and so it proved, with the horse staying on well to win at Newbury.

IT’S A DAY FOR PLACE BETS: Today Daqman explores Carlisle, Ripon and Naas, looking for win and place bets at value offers on BETDAQ. He has spent double the money on the place part of each of the four bets. His place nap is at Naas.

RAIL-RUNNER RIO 8.0 BETDAQ VALUE

3.30 Ripon High-drawn horses have won 8 out of 10 in the decade from stalls 7, 8, 9 (10 four times) and 13.

From the high five here, down the card, I would say that Another Wise Kid has had his turn, is stepping up a furlong and has never been higher in the handicap than he is now.

Cosmic Chatter hasn’t won for two years but has slipped back to a handy mark, though both Cosmic Chatter and Mappin Time have a mile to make up on Out Do on recent form.

Ruby’s Day was a CD winner in the Spring under Claire Murrary but that was an apprentice-only race and the mare has done nothing since.

My Name Is Rio landed a third win from four starts after a break and may not be finished with yet (put back-to-back wins together in the Spring). Now handicapped to dead-heat with Secret Look but better drawn.

Rio was huge at 8.0 on BETDAQ this morning. Rain helps. And he has the favoured stands’-side rail in stall 11 of 11. I could get 17-10 a place, and had 2.85pts to win my usual 20 but 5pts a place.

5.10 Naas Johnny Murtagh has struck a seam of form, with three winners and two seconds from his last five starters, and interesting to see Seamie Heffernan take a rare ride for him on Chicago Girl.

But she is blinkered for the first time, revealing a degree of desperation after seven defeats, including four consecutive seconds last season..

She is well clear of these on known form and, having tried three races in the Pattern, including the Athasi Stakes at the Curragh, has to defend a high rating of 103.

But, if you fancy buying money at odds-on Chicago Girl, beware of Carrie Bow Cay or, perhaps more precisely, beware of Tommy Stack and Wayne Lordan.

They have together won this race twice in the last three years with fillies turning over the favourite. In fact, Lordan is on a four-timer today, having also scored on a David Wachman filly; she, too, disposed of the race favourite.

Carrie Bow Cay looked hugely promising three weeks back at Dundalk, tenderly handled in, albeit, ‘the worst maiden we have seen this year,’ according to the Racing Post racereader.

But she’s clearly been laid out for this and I could get better than evens a place on BETDAQ this morning, so I went in at 6.0 the win at my usual stakes to win 20 points, but double that for the place stake to win 9.5 points.

6.45 Carlisle Tony Newcombe is in form – currently two out of three – and takes two of his recent winners to Carlisle for Hayley Turner to ride.

But you’ll get better offers (in fact, 8.0 on BETDAQ this morning, 2.32 a place) about their runner, My Meteor (6.45) in the opening sprint.

My Meteor has won all his career races in July and August and is now 7lb lower than for his last success seven races ago.

8.45 Carlisle Spin Cast won this race last year off the same mark under the same rider and looks in the swim again.

Has done nothing much lately but this has always been the target and 9.8 the win was tasty with the 3.85 the place begging for a bite.

DAQMAN’S BETS (each to win 20 points at BETDAQ offers taken, with varied place stakes)
BET 2.85pts win and 5pts place MY NAME IS RIO (3.30 Ripon)
BET 4pts win and 8pts place (place nap) CARRIE BOW CAY (5.10 Naas)
BET 2.85pts win and 6pts place MY METEOR (6.45 Carlisle)
BET 1.25pts win and 4pts place SPIN CAST (8.45 Carlisle)
