LISTED ACTION AT CORK: SHAMROCK turns his attention to the evening card at Cork on Tuesday when the highlight is the Platinum Stakes – a Listed race at 6.55.
A competitive field of nine go to post for the Listed Platinum Stakes at Cork (6.55) this evening and the answer to the puzzle might well be the lightly raced Prince Of All.
I’m still not convinced we have seen the best of this three-year-old who has only had four career starts.
Following a big run on his debut when third at 25/1 to Century at the Curragh last season he reappeared to romp home at Dundalk over a mile and then followed up at Dundalk when making all to win a Listed race over seven furlongs easily.
He was then stepped up to the highest class possible when contesting the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot for which he went off a 66/1 chance. He finished last of the seven runners behind Kingman but was only beaten six lengths and Toormore was just in front of him in sixth !!
He is already proven at Listed level but is a class dropper who is also a likely improver so is rated a solid bet tonight. He is currently trading at around 3.55 on BETDAQ.
The BETDAQ favourite at around 2.76 is Brendan Bracken who likes to race up with the pace. After a spell in Dubai he has finished placed in two Group 3’s at Leopardstown and should again go close.
