Three reasons to back New York

1. The Jets have a nasty defense that held Oakland to just 156 total yards last week, and remember: the skill-position talent in Green Bay isn’t what it once was. Aaron Rodgers now has to force balls to Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, which could spell trouble against the well-coached Jets D.

2. The New York offense came alive last week, rolling up over 400 total yards in a victory over Oakland. This week they face a very vulnerable Green Bay defense, a unit that ranked 25th in yards allowed last season and was dominated in a Week 1 loss to Seattle.

3. While Green Bay is an above-average team with an effective offense, they have no business being 7.5-point favorites over the Jets, a team that looked like a playoff contender last week. Given the state of the the Green Bay defense, there are numerous ways in which a New York bet could turn out to be a winner.

Three reasons to back Green Bay

1. The Packers have an explosive offense that will be letting it all hang out after a disappointing outing against Seattle in Week 1. The New York defense, while good up front, is extremely vulnerable in the secondary. That’s bad news when you’re about to face a motivated Aaron Rodgers.

2. Speaking of Rodgers, the quarterback matchup in this game is one of the main reasons why you should be looking at the Green Bay side. Rodgers is one of the game’s very best, a future Hall of Famer who has been remarkably consistent over the course of his career, while New York’s Geno Smith was a walking turnover last season and may not hold onto his job for too much longer, as Michael Vick is waiting in the wings.

3. The New York offense is an absolute disaster; they ranked 25th overall and 31st in passing yards last season and managed just 19 points in a closer-than-expected Week 1 win over the Raiders. There’s just no way they’ll be able to keep up with the high-flying Packers on Sunday.
