9-4 NAP WINS BY FIVE LENGTHS: Daqman landed a runaway Windsor nap yesterday when Geordan Murphy (WON 9-4) scored by five lengths. He has another from the same stable at Leicester this afternoon.
8-1 FOR 49 POINTS PROFIT: Tullia (WON 8-1) and Roserrow (WON 11-4) completed another fabulous Daqman day, with three winners out of five for 49 points Monday profit. Only on Saturday he made 47 points.
LOOK OUT FOR LEICESTER BANKER: Daqman’s naps sequence is now 111114123131, and he attempts a sixth consecutive winning banker this afternoon, also at Leicester.
SOFTLY, SOFTLY FOR ASCOT SUCCESS: His column today concentrates on the stats for big races at Saturday’s Ascot Champions Day, in which he lists the fancied horses that have won on a soft surface.

1.35 Ascot (Champions Long Distance Cup) The Irish have a 100% record in the three years of this race being run at Ascot, including wins for Dermot Weld and Aidan O’Brien.
Eight of the last 12 winners were aged six or over, suggesting that this is a tough scrap for dour stayers – 11 of the last 14 having a rating of 109 or higher – and it certainly will be on the forecast soft ground.

2.20 Ascot (Champions Sprint) Stick to runners aged three and four: they’ve won 32 out of 35, with three-year-olds ahead 17-15.
The three winners since the start of Champions Day at Ascot had won at Group-3 level, as sprinters on the up, with ratings from 114, 115 to 120.
But only Gordon Lord Byron, Tropics and G Force have ratings within that parameter on Saturday.

3.30 Ascot (Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, Champions Mile) Though his last year’s winner, Olympic Glory, is out (retired), Richard Hannon still has three formidable contenders in Night Of Thunder, Toormore and Toronado.
Three-year-old winners lead those aged four 25-12, with an odd cluster of five-year-old winners in the three years (2003-5).
WINNERS ON SOFT: Brendan Brackan, Charm Spirit, Graphic, Integral, Kingsbarns, Night Of Thunder, Mustajeeb, Top Notch Tonto and Tullius.
4.05 Ascot (Champion Stakes) Winners in the last 30 years have included magic names, like Triptych, Bosra Sham, New Approach and Frankel.
Domination by the three-year-olds has waned: they have won just five times this century, with five-year-olds currently three from four.
A normal winner – Frankel (rated 140) wasn’t normal – would win this with a figure of 124 to 130 but both big players of that level, Australia and The Grey Gatsby, are out.
So, again, maybe a rising star three-year-old will come good. The obvious nomination is Free Eagle (121) but will he like the ground?

REPOSER PLOT TO MAKE THE RUNNING
HUNTINGDON Three turf meetings, all with ‘soft’ in the going designation, and there have been 21 non-runners already this morning up to the time of writing.
You don’t often see A P McCoy 4-1 in a three-horse race and Shutthebackdoor (3.20) should be in his element in the mud, son of a heavy-ground Irish Guineas winner.
Ordo Ab Chao returns to the scene of his success before stepping up to attempt a Graded bumper. Odds on here for his first hurdle, despite being a faller the last twice in Irish Points.
McCoy is even money to win the 4.20 on course-and-distance winner, Top Billing, and it will be a rare day if he doesn’t score on one of my two selections.
LEICESTER The quality race of the day is the class-2 handicap over 7f (3.40) here at Oadby, still a full card without a defector at the time of writing.
Andrew Balding had two winners and a second from his three starters yesterday, including my 8-1 winner, and he has persevered with Modern Tutor to this late stage of the season.
I had a bit of 9.6 on BETDAQ, hoping to win the stake to go all in on Shakopee (4.40), backed this morning as if defeat is out of the question.
NEWCASTLE The end of the season means that top trainers are desperate to get runs into their maidens, so Bell, Stoute, Varian, Gosden, Fanshawe, Becket and Prescott all raid the North East from Newmarket. Aw’ay the lads!
The handicaps are low class and desperate pinstickers’ races, with a massive 79 runners to choose from.
This morning’s strength in the BETDAQorange was for Game Pie (2.00), Sperry (2.30) and Reposer (4.30). I’m expecting a front-running performance from Reposer, slowly dropped to his winning mark after coming over from Ireland, a dual winner 10lb too high.
Penny Garcia is another who’s tumbled down the handicap. I could get 9.0 Reposer and 10.5 Penny Garcia on BETDAQ this morning.
