UNDER THE FLOODLIGHTS AT DUNDALK: SHAMROCK heads to DUNDALK on Friday for his nap which runs in the 8.45pm – a 16 runner maiden.

The 8.45 at Dundalk tonight doesn’t look like it will take much winning.

Despite the big field of 16 there doesn’t appear to be many with strong claims – so much so that it might be fought out between two long term maidens Carrie Bow Cay and Craig Agus Spraoi from the respective yards of Tommy Stack and Jim Bolger.

Preference is for Carrie Bow Cay who already brings some fairly solid course form to the table. She reverts back to maiden company after her handicap debut over course and distance last time out when she started favourite but could only finish 5th of 10 . However she still shaped quite nicely and was only beaten under two lengths.

She had previously finished second in a maiden here – also over tonight’s trip and can gain reward for her consistency this evening.

Craic Agus Spraoi was an expensive purchase and so far has proved a little frustrating. She makes her all-weather debut tonight in attempt number seven to lose her maiden tag and also gets stepped up in trip. The switch to AW and a longer trip may work – but there’s a degree of speculation in that, whereas with the selection we know both trip and course are ideal.
