Willie Mullins unleashes two of his biggest stars on both sides of the Irish Sea today but the odds are prohibitive.
It would be a brave man who would back against Faugheen at Kempton and Vautour in the Racing Post Novice Chase at Leopardstown as surely they can only beat themselves through error or having an off-day. Certainly, it’s hard to argue a coherent case for any of their rivals.
Mullins also appears to have the other big race of the day at Leopardstown, the Knight Frank Juvenile Hurdle (Grade 2), by the scruff of the neck with Kalkir who be long odds-on after landing a Grade 3 at Fairyhouse with contemptuous ease.
I’ll play at better odds on a day where you have the quantity of racing to look beyond the obvious.
It will hopefully be an early strike at Limerick where Irish Bulletin looks the solid option for the opener at 12.30.
He is long overdue a first hurdles win but a repetition of his second in handicap company at Punchestown three weeks ago should easily prove strong enough to win this.
