NAP-TRICK: SHAMROCK landed his third winning nap in a row with Kitten Rock in the Limestone Lad Hurdle at Naas on Saturday.
I wasn’t really expecting Kitten Rock to go off as short as 4/7 but in the end I think I was quite fortunate to land the third winning nap in a row.
Runner-up Glens Melody pecked at last when coming to challenge and was upsides the eventual winner.

Firstly, what a shocking turn out for a ‘race’ with nearly €25k to the winner. Vautour has seemingly frightened all the opposition away and he should of course resume winning ways after his disappointing share of second here over Christmas when the 1/4 favourite for the Racing Post Novice Chase. Money buyers can get involved at around 1.15 today on BETDAQ but I’m not sure my heart could stand it.
2:20 BoyleSports Handicap Chase (Grade A) (5yo+, 2m 5f, 15 runners)
From one extreme to the other. This looks totally impossible to solve but the kind of contest worthy of a €60k first prize. Last year’s winner He’llberemembered is back for more and popped up at 33/1 last time out at Punchestown (promoted after winner weighed in light). He’s only 2lb higher in the weights this year and should make another bold show but narrow preference for me is the Enda Bolger trained Federici who is pretty consistent and has a fighting weight. This is much more his trip rather than the two miles last time.
For the nap I’ll take a chance with Heck Thomas in the maiden hurdle at 1.20. He was having his first start for two years when a well beaten fifth at Cork last time out but is undoubtedly better than that and the early market signs are positive.
