McCOY MISSES PUNCHESTOWN: Tony McCoy is likely to retire either after the Grand National or Sandown’s finale meeting.
Tony McCoy’s retirement tour will not include the Punchestown Festival.
Speaking to The Times, McCoy said that he will not be riding at the Punchestown Festival and that if he does not win the National, Sandown’s fixture on the last day of the National Hunt season is more than likely the destination for his final ride.
McCoy said: “I’m very likely to ride Shutthefrontdoor in the National but I won’t commit finally until close to declaration time – there is plenty of time yet for something to go wrong.”
Meanwhile, Willie Mullins has raised the prospect of running two of his stars in the Doom Bar Aintree Hurdle on Thursday week but we are still none the wiser about WHICH two.
Mullins said: “We’ll enter four in the Aintree Hurdle – Faugheen, Arctic Fire, Hurricane Fly and Annie Power – and we may run two.”
