LISTED SPRINT: The Listed Woodlands Stakes is the highlight on the Naas evening card at 7.10.
A good flat card at Naas this evening with the highlight coming at 7.10 – the Listed Woodlands Stakes.
Ten runners have been entered for the 5f sprint including the English raider Musical Comedy for Richard Hannon who runs in the colours of the Queen but his form tailed off last season and remarkably this is his first try over the minimum trip in 10 starts.
Aidan O’Brien won this last season but his representative this year Eisenhower had to work quite hard to win a maiden at Cork and clearly this is a much stiffer challenge.
Anthem Alexander looks the obvious contender for sprint training specialist Eddie Lynam. The filly won two of her five starts as a two-year-old including the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot and finished the campaign with a highly creditable three quarters of a length second to Tiggy Wiggy in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket.
The ground will be easier than she’s used to tonight and she might not be fully wound up but even allowing for that she could easily outclass these and strike a blow for the younger generation.
