DIAMOND TO SPARKLE AT CHESTER: The Aidan O’Brien trained Diamondsandrubies looks the pick for the Cheshire Oaks at Chester this afternoon.
Chester’s May Festival gets underway this afternoon and Aidan O’Brien’s Diamondsandrubies looks to have a solid chance in the Cheshire Oaks at 2.40.
This race used to have a good record for favourites until Good Morning Star popped up at 50/1 in 2012 and there’s been big priced winners since then.
Diamondsandrubies won her maiden at Tipperary in good style before finishing third in a Listed race at Navan where she didn’t get the run of the race. She is well drawn in stall two and Ryan Moore is onboard.
Three Irish challengers in the days feature – the Chester Cup at 3.10. The Tony Martin trained Quick Jack looks the pick of them after his excellent third placed efforts in both the Cesarewitch on the flat and in the Vincent O’Brien County Handicap Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
