FATHER CHRISTMAS ARRIVED LATE: But won the 7.00 at Roscommon to land SHAMROCK’s NAP on Monday – Father Christmas (NAP) WON 9/10. Back to Roscommon for tonight’s nap.
Father Christmas left it late but came through strongly in the closing stages under Joseph O’Brien to deliver the nice present of a Monday winning nap at Roscommon last night.
Back to Roscommon this evening for their all-jumps card.
I thought the best bet on the card was A Great View in the opener. Owned by JP, he went off a 22/1 shot on debut at Ballinrobe and finished a creditable third. He is sure to improve and this race certainly won’t take much winning.
Batchelors Walk would probably be favourite for this but for an absolute shocker of a run last time out at Down Royal when beaten 54 lengths. Even allowing for it being a better race than tonight it’s hard to summon up much enthusiasm for him although he had previously run quite well at Gowran Park and Punchestown and seems to favour the faster ground.
Pershing hasn’t been able to build on a good debut third over jumps but has been running at a higher level than this. Best of the rest is Jesmond Lodge who seemed to show improved form when narrowly beaten at Tramore but is looking quite weak in early BETDAQ market fluctuations.
