GOWRAN PARK FEATURE: SHAMROCK looks ahead to the Listed Hurry Harriet Stakes run at 6.30pm tonight.
Nine fillies go to post for the featured Hurry Harriet Stakes at Gowran Park tonight.
Dermot Weld has won the last two runnings of this and has a solid chance of making it a hat-trick through Afternoon Sunlight who won the Group 3 Derrinstown Stud 1,000 Guineas Trial last season and reappeared this season to finish second to 100/1 shock winner Ramone in the Group 3 Park Express Stakes at the Curragh when the ground was more testing than it is expected to be tonight.
She is fitted with a first time visor tonight and might well prove hard to peg back.
Easter looks the pick of the Aidan O’Brien trained pair. She ran quite well at Cork when third in a Group 3 behind Zannda but that came over 1m 4f and she takes a big drop in distance for this.
The Willie Mullins trained Laviniad is tough and scrambled home in a bunch finish to win a Listed race at Galway. She is now on for the hat-trick but this looks tougher.
The opening maiden on the card looks at the mercy of London who looked to be beaten by a very smart sort in Herald The Dawn at Naas last time out. Herald The Dawn has already attracted ante-post interest for the 2000 Guineas and the son of stable star Dawn Approach is highly thought of by his trainer Jim Bolger.
