NAP AMONG FIVE WINS IN A ROW: Daqman landed the winners of five consecutive races yesterday, including his nap, Ghalib (WON 3-1). The five were:
125 POINTS PROFIT IN ONE DAY:
The seven horses he selected produced eight winning bets, including three doubles and a treble for a profit of just under 125 points (124.85) on the day.
BANKER AND BULL’S-EYE BET TODAY:
Daqman plays up his winnings today with a gold banker, a bull’s-eye bet, a high-stakes double and two Hidden Horses. He competes with Pricewise in the 2.20 Beverley, and 2.50 and 3.25 Newmarket.
HAD A BET? ‘CHANGE IT’ FOR 15.0 HIDDEN HORSE
2.00 Goodwood Mick Channon tries to take this for the third time in four years, but his 14 two-year-old winners this term have not been at Group level, netting only £77,000 in prizemoney.
That said, Epsom Icon broke into the Pattern on the last day by taking a small-field (Listed) Washington Singer Stakes at Newbury, albeit off only 77.
It makes the 94 she was given for that a questionable hike, but a telling point for today may be that the race was run on softish ground.
They hadn’t much choice but to come for some black type after Belvoir Bay shot up 12lb for winning easily on today’s course, though over a furlong shorter.
Fireglow has the best form, a Listed winner, fourth in the Albany, and going down narrowly in the Sweet Solera. She beat a filly called Desertoflife at Sandown further than than did Epsom Icon at Newbury.
2.20 Beverley Bullet No need to bite the bullet; the draw is a sure-fire winner, so biased that stalls 1 and 2 have won in five of the last seven years!
With 16 runners, it may not be that easy but, whatever the size of field, there has been no winner with a double-figure draw.
The drying ground is against Maarek and boosts Line Of Reason (I took 6.0 this morning), unlucky in the race last year when beaten a neck and a head after trouble in running.
2.35 Goodwood Half of the 20 have been unable to make their mark at this level.
The field will get strung out round the Goodwood bends, single-figure stalls having won every year in the decade.
Combine these factors and you are left picking from half a dozen, with Ascot International Stakes fifth, Suzi’s Connoisseur (stall 2), getting his ground.
‘Suzi’ was in front of Rene Mathis and Enlace that day on the soft but behind ‘Rene’ on firm at Newmarket in July.
Enlace has won all her three starts at Goodwood but has always preferred the going on top.
Rene Mathis had been second in this last year, with the 2013 winner, Magic City, in third, off the same weight difference, and the local horse, Czech It Out, has a big chance out of gate 3.
Can’t Change It (stall 6), a winner on soft, might have scored over the Goodwood CD in July but was unable to get a clear run. His stable is in fine form (latest figures 13203231) and the four-year-old is 15.0 on BETDAQ this morning. A hidden horse.
Fox Trotter, who was raced in the Pattern last season, was a good fourth to Enlace over today’s CD, reappearing after a long absence, but stall 1 might trap him.
‘KODI’ THE KEY TO A DOUBLE OF FRONT-RUNNERS
3.10 Goodwood I’m looking for a quick double from the front, with Mark Johnston’s Vive Ma Fille (4.00), the Goodwood Cup fifth, likely to make all here and Kodi Bear my ‘good thing’ in the big race.
3.45 Goodwood (Celebration Mile, see Thursday): I previewed this in an ABC guide on Thursday (check it out in the Daqman Archive), and the main obstacle to Kodi Bear has defected.
Last year’s Dewhurst runner-up on the soft, Kodi Bear was a runaway success in the Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury for Gerald Mosse, and can do the same again.
THE AMAZING BETDAQ BEATS 15 BOOKMAKERS
2.50 Newmarket If you still find it hard to convince your friends to switch to BETDAQ, try this for size. Pricewise is picking from this race as a ‘107 best-price percentage’.
That means that, if you bet only the horses in black type in his advertised list – those are the biggest offers – you can back them all, putting 107 on and getting 100 back.. IF you have accounts with FIFTEEN different bookmakers.
Yet, with only the touch of a finger, or the sweep of the cursor from my mouse, I can bet in a 105% ‘book’ of BETDAQ offers in the orange. One list. A better total percentage at a glance. And no more work to do!
And I can follow the movements in the market, simply by keeping my Daq up and watching the offers change as exchanges take place.
In the race itself, four-year-olds have had a clean sweep but none below 9st., so it seems to be quality you’re after. Farquhar?
However, the race is ablaze with front-runners: Leaderene, Magic Dancer, Proposed, Qanan, Retirement Plan and Triumphant have all set the pace.
I think Proposed is a hidden horse. His featherweight under a top claimer belies the ability he has shown in far better company, and he’s down in grade today.
He did make all over shorter at Sandown, and was with the pace but kept on in the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot then, rather than settle of his own accord, was taken off his legs stepped up to Group 3 in the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood. I bought into the 12.5 on BETDAQ.
3.25 Newmarket If I am to keep up my challenge to Pricewise, I have to tip in this. But how on earth is he expecting value from a sprint in which five of the horses are within a 6lb ratings range; that’s two lengths covering half the field, and there are two improvers among the others.
The visors could at long last put Lucky Kristale’s head in front but it will be a Pyrrhic victory for his fans after so much cash has been poured down the betting drain.
Portamento didn’t get the luck of the draw at Chester and his Group-3 effort at Newbury before that entitles him to be in at the business end of this.
