PREVIEW

Last weekend’s 3-0 defeat to Levante is certainly not how Manuel Pellegrini would have liked to set up ahead of Real Madrid’s visit. It was always going to be tough having been reduced to ten men early on and the manager will be looking for a positive response here.

Malaga are sixth in the table, seven points behind the league leaders and would be further ahead if their away form had been better. The good news for the hosts is that the side boast of a 100% record at La Rosaleda this season after three matches.

Having spent big in the summer, Los Boquerones are expected to break into Europe at least this season and that brings a certain amount of pressure. So far so good, but the Real Madrid clash will be the yardstick of how well they are doing.

Striker Ruud van Nistelrooy used to ply his trade in Madrid and the 35 year old striker would love to score against his former employers.

Jose Mourinho’s side hammered Malaga 7-0 in their last meeting, but the manager knows that this is a completely different side to last year. Interestingly, they were beaten on their most recent visit to La Rosaleda. Los Merengues are in stunning form having won five games on the spin across all competitions – bagging 21 goals and have conceding only three times.

Given the run Real Madrid are on, I’m happy to tip up an away win at 1.44 on BETDAQ.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Real Madrid at around 1.44: 4 points
Friday’s Return: NO BET
