FORTUNE COOKIES’ WEEKEND TREBLE: Daqman bids for a hat-trick from his Fortune Cookies this weekend. They have already had five winning bets, including an 8-1 scorer. Now he has lined up (to 20-point level stakes):

Dannyday (3.40 Newcastle today)
Red Verdon (5.20 The Curragh today)
Minding (4.20 The Curragh, Sunday)

‘HIDDEN HORSE’ IN PITMAN’S DERBY: Look out today for a 19.0 ‘hidden horse’ given ‘Pot Of Gold’ status in the Northumberland Plate and a Red light for Harzand in the Irish Derby. Daqman has a banker bet at Newmarket, with his current naps sequence 121213. Other updates: Daqman 50, Pricewise 22.

MR LUPTON IS STILL ON THE UP AND UP..

2.30 Newcastle Mr Lupton last year beat Derby sixth Humphrey Bogart and was runner-up to Log Out Island, who has tried Group 1. This season, Mr Lupton stopped Dancing Star’s hat-trick bid at York.

On official ratings, he’s still 5lb behind Buratino, second to Shalaa in the Middle Park last season and back to sprinting on the last day after fading in the 2,000 Guineas.

But Mr Lupton (BETDAQ best offers 6.2) has continued on his upward trajectory at home, while Buratino was easy to back this morning, 4.7 in an open betting heat.

Watchable is twice the age of the two principals, but Pretend (7.8) is interesting for Godolphin, as a winner five times out of six on AW.

ARISE SIR ROBERT, THE SPRINT EXPERT!

3.05 Newcastle Another open BETDAQ market this morning (7.2 the field), led by Amazour, who has failed to make an impression in this grade on his last five starts, and Blaine, up in the ratings but still not as high as he climbed in 2014.

George Bowen’s pull in the weights is strictly not enough to reverse the Epsom June form with Blaine.

Captain Colby goes well fresh but beat nothing well at Newmarket in May, and may be taken on for the lead by Exchequer, a possible trade horse, at 17.0 starters on BETDAQ over breakfast.

Though top weight here, Ruwaiyan is gradually dropping down the ratings but the one I like is Sir Robert Cheval, a miler brought back to sprinting by Robert Cowell, an expert with horses at the trip. I took 8.2.

THE CASHEL MAN CLASH WITH DANNY BOY

3.40 Newcastle (Northumberland Vase) One of my Fortune Cookies, Dannyday, was favourite for the Northumberland Plate but missed the cut and goes in this Consolation.

He’s too short for what he’s done but he absolutely cantered off a strong pace at Chelmsford in his prep for this track.

Sea Of Heaven improved 10lb or so in a few weeks last season, but has had a long holiday and has raced only in small fields (has faced a total just 23 runners in the five races in which he has won or been placed)

The Cashel Man, seen back only once – in May – would be a pointer to the Plate chances of Saigon City who was 10lb better in their one-two at York. His jockey, Jamie Spencer, was giving them a great ride yesterday.

ANTIQUARIUM HIDDEN HORSE IN THE PLATE

4.15 Newcastle (Northumberland Plate, see ABC guide yesterday) Another Chelmsford winner this year is Notarised, who took the Old Newton Cup at Haydock last season.

Nearly Caught is well in with those around him on his third in the Plate last year, and the sixth horse home that day.

Moscato, only two lengths off the winner in the Cesarewitch (2m 2f) and fourth in the Ascot Stakes (2m 4f), likes to be handy and should last this race out well, closely handicapped with My Reward and Nearly Caught.

Steve Rogers Just three lengths or so off the winner in the Cesarewitch and 2m winner on Kempton polytrack but disappointed in the Chester Cup off revised mark. Not seen since.

Antiquarium at 19.0 is the hidden horse, well drawn in stall 3. Runner-up to Dartmouth at Goodwod last year, then fifth to Polarisation in the Melrose at York, for which he’s 12lb better, is likely to improve on his sole run back after being gelded during the winter.

He’s well in with Polarisation and, therefore, with Nakeeta, No Heretic and Gabrial the Hero (on Chester Cup form).

He should be alongside them in the betting at around 10-1, which requires 5 points to win a bull’s-eye 50. We’ll keep that stake at the better odds of 19.0 in a 108% BETDAQ orange. That’s triple value.

The lightly raced Seamour, winner of the Brown Jack Stakes at Ascot, was used up by a 22 draw in this last year but was still in second place yards bfore the line.

Fresher than most, and well backed in the week, Seamour has the 12 stall this time around and has been to the track for a private gallop on the Tapeta.

ORDER IN: 1 Antiquarium, 2 Seamour, 3 Nakeeta, 4 No Heretic

IRISH DERBY RED LIGHT AGAINST HARZAND

5.20 The Curragh (Irish Derby, see Wednesday’s ABC guide)

Harzand has no US Army Ranger to beat but the Epsom third, Idaho, and sixth, Red Verdon, look threatening.

Red Verdon didn’t get the rub of the green at Epsom, asnd I added him to my Fortune Cookies on the strength of some good homework last weekend.

Moonlight Magic beat Shogun and Idaho on a sound surface for the Derrinstown (Leopardstown Derby Trial) but didn’t act at Epsom.

THE NAP: Somebody To Love (3.20 Newmarket) has improved at home since a scintillating Sandown success and all bar Marie of Lyon were drifting against her (evens) during the morning.

DAQMAN BETS (each staked to win 30 points, except banker and Pot-of-Gold bet)
BET 6pts win MR LUPTON and 4.4pts win PRETEND (2.30 Newcastle)
