FRIDAY FA CUP PREVIEW: It’s FA Cup third round weekend and Friday’s opener is the all Premier League clash of West Ham v Man City at the London Stadium. We preview the game with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
West Ham v Manchester City
7.55pm West Ham are still searching for that big win at their new home ground, and will be hopeful of better luck than at the weekend as Mike Dean give them an early red card against Manchester United in the league. Pep Guardiola has had another testing week with the English press, City got yet another red card themselves at the weekend but managed to see of Burnley 2-1 – Guardiola gave a very odd press confidence after when he didn’t deal with the questions well at all and anything but a win here will see yet more pressure applied on his shoulders from the press.
The odds at the time of writing current stand at City 1.69, West Ham 5.5 and the draw 4.3. How many first team players Guardiola will choose to rest is hard to say, but they’ve only had two clean sheets in their last 15 away games in all competitions – possibly a sign that his defensive tactics are not working in England.
We feel that City are a shade short here at 1.69, especially with the chance of Guardiola resting players. However, given City’s record at the back away from home, we see more value in backing over 2.5 goals at 1.7 rather than laying City at 1.69. It’s unlikely West Ham will sit back too much with this being a Cup game and City look vulnerable at the back. West Ham performed well in the first half against United despite being a man down, and a similar type effort here with all 11 should see them create a few chances, and with City’s attacking firepower at the other end – this looks a good game to back goals.
