EUROPA LEAGUE THURSDAY: We preview Thursday’s Europa League semi-final between CELTA VIGO v MAN U with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
8.05pm Manchester United had yet another draw at home to Swansea last weekend, and suffered more injuries too. After that draw and Liverpool’s win on Monday night, it’s looking like winning the Europa League is United’s best chance at Champions League football next season.
Given the injuries United have at the moment, it should be a tough night for them here – even if Celta Vigo were the outsiders of the competition before the semi-final draw was made. The odds at the time of writing are; Celta Vigo 3.05, Manchester United 2.7 and the draw is 3.25.
It’s difficult to get a good read on what form Celta Vigo are in as they have seemed to give up on La Liga this season and focus on this tournament – much like Crystal Palace and the FA Cup last season. They’ve lost five of their last six in La Liga, however have only lost once in their last six in the Europa League.
One thing is for sure with this Jose Mourinho United side anyway, you can expect a very cagey and defensive game here. They will be delighted to get back to Old Trafford with a draw here and win the tie there. They haven’t been setting the world alight in this competition; probably similar to the Premier League to be honest, however they are getting the job done, but the games have been low scoring affairs.
Given United’s lack of scoring, and their likely tactics here – the game absolutely screams unders. But with under 2.5 goals trading just 1.6, that looks a few ticks too short to back. We much prefer the draw at 3.25 which looks a great bet. United have drawn six of their last nine in all competitions and it’s worth checking the price of 0-0 in the correct score market closer to kick off.
