PREVIEW

Manchester United’s torrid week got even worse with the news of Nemanja Vidic’s knee injury that will rule him out for the remainder of the season. Not only are United eliminated from the Champions League and Carling Cup, they will have to make do with a patched up defence until at least the January transfer window.

Sir Alex Ferguson will be reminding his side that they are still in the running for the Premier League and they can really put the pressure on City with three points against Wolves. United missed an opportunity to do the same when City went to Anfield, as they could only manage a 1-1 draw with Newcastle.

Over the years United have always come out fighting in times of trouble and Wolves should not pose too much of a threat at Old Trafford. Mick McCarthy’s side were somewhat fortunate to beat Sunderland and they have a woeful record when away at United.

Wolves remain dangerously close to the relegation places and they have not won in six away league fixtures – losing five times in that period.

Wayne Rooney is without a league goal since his strike against Chelsea, but the forward will be in a confident mood after UEFA reduced his international ban by a game on Thursday morning. United know they cannot afford any more slip ups here and they will go for the jugular from the off. With that in mind, I’m happy to back United on the -1.5 handicap at around 2.02 on BETDAQ.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Man United with -1.5 Asian handicap at around 2.02: 5 points

Friday’s Return: +8
