PREVIEW
Liverpool ended a run of two straight draws with an emphatic 3-1 win over Newcastle on Friday evening and now Kenny Dalglish must prepare the side for another huge game at the Etihad Stadium. Steven Gerrard made an immediate impact when coming off the bench against Newcastle and the England midfielder scored the killer third goal.
With Lucas unavailable for the foreseeable future, Dalglish may well choose to start Gerrard as Liverpool look to become the first side to take points from City at home. The signs are good for those travelling fans as Liverpool have lost only once in their past eight away Premier League contests. The Reds are also unbeaten against City in their last two meetings, with a 1-1 draw at Anfield earlier in the campaign.
Even though Roberto Mancini’s side have undoubtedly suffered a blip over the festive season, the league leader’s home form cannot be argued against. City have won all nine home league games since August and have racked up an impressive 28 goals in the process. Much of City’s good work has been built around some resolute defending that has seen the side ship just four goals at home in the league this year.
Even though City played just 48-hours previously they have the squad depth to keep things fresh in this pressure game. Even though Liverpool have the potential to frustrate City at home, at around 1.98 on BETDAQ the best bet is for the hosts to maintain their 100% home record in the league.
RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back City at around 1.98: 5 points
Monday’s Return: NO BET
