EUROPA LEAGUE THURSDAY: We preview Thursday’s Europa League games between YOUNG BOYS V RANGERS, BESIKTAS V WOLVES, AZ ALKMAAR V MANCHESTER UNITED, CELTIC V CLUJ and ARSENAL V STANDARD LIEGE all with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
YOUNG BOYS V RANGERS
5-55pm We have a busy Thursday night in the Europa League again and we kick things off with Young Boys v Rangers. Obviously it’s early days in the Group after just one game, but you have to feel that Young Boys need to get something from this fixture if they have hopes of qualifying after losing their first tie. Rangers couldn’t have started better with a win over Feyenoord and another win here would put them in a superb position to get out of the Group.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Young Boys 2.0, Rangers 4.0 and the draw is 3.85. Rangers had their issues away from home in the Group Stages of the Europa League last season; losing two and drawing once in three games. Add this to the fact that Young Boys are rock solid in front of their own fans and the 2.0 on a home win looks good value to start the evening.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Young Boys to beat Rangers at 2.0.

BESIKTAS V WOLVES
5-55pm Wolves couldn’t have got off to a worst start to the Group Stages. They were very impressive in qualifying; but to lose at home against Braga is really going to set them back in their hopes of getting out of the Group. They really need to win against this Besiktas side who lost their opening fixture 4-2. The hosts are without a win in their last five competitive fixtures and with Wolves netting their first win of the Premier League season at the weekend, now is a good time to follow it up!
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Besiktas 3.05, Wolves 2.48 and the draw is 3.55. Perhaps the win for the Wolves at the weekend can kick start their season – it would have been a nice confidence boost after some draws and they can win here. Besiktas are a poor team if we’re being honest and Wolves should outclass them – they were able to compete with the big boys in the Premier League last season and although they may have started this season slowly; they can get a big away win here.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Wolves to beat Besiktas at 2.48.

AZ ALKMAAR V MANCHESTER UNITED
5-55pm This is a very tricky fixture for Manchester United. However; looking at the way they have been playing this season every fixture looks tricky! They face the possibility of an embarrassing result here, and if truth be told it’s hard to see them winning away from home. It’s been quite a while now since they’ve won away from home in the Premier League and they just aren’t creating enough chances to win games at the moment.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; AZ Alkmaar 3.05, Manchester United 2.54 and the draw is 3.45. AZ Alkmaar have won their last four fixtures in the Dutch Eredivisie and got a 2-2 draw away from home in their opening fixture in the Group. Obviously the Dutch league standard is way below the Premier League; however how can you back United with confidence at the moment? We’re happy to lay them at 2.54 – they just don’t look like winning an away game and if they keep struggling to score goals they will have big problems this season.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Manchester United at 2.54.

CELTIC V CLUJ
8pm Celtic would have been delighted to come back from 1-0 down to get a draw away from home against Rennes in their opening fixture and now they will feel that they have a great chance to collect three points. These two have actually already met in Europe this season with Cluj knocking Celtic out of the Champions League qualifiers. Celtic will want revenge for that but the reality is Cluj were able to beat them here, so Celtic look a little short in the market.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Celtic 1.59, Cluj 7.6 and the draw is 3.85. Celtic always perform better in front of their own fans compared to away, although Cluj managed to beat Lazio in their opening fixture and they’ve already beat Celtic this season too. Obviously Cluj are at a disadvantage because they have no domestic football at the moment but Celtic look massively short here at 1.59 and that looks to be the value lay of the night in the Europa League.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Celtic at 1.59.

ARSENAL V STANDARD LIEGE
8pm Arsenal got off to an excellent start to their Europa League campaign with a 3-0 away win against Eintracht Frankfurt. It’s unlikely that they will have many problems tonight and given that Eintracht Frankfurt were their biggest competition in Group F – they are in an excellent position after that win. They easily bossed most Europa League home games last season, and we can only see that continuing tonight.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Arsenal 1.41, Standard Liege 9.2 and the draw is 5.4. Apart from the Manchester United game on Monday night, recent Arsenal games have been excellent viewing. They have been jam packed with goals and drama. Standard Liege are an attacking team too, and we should see plenty of goals here. It’s tempting to back Arsenal on the handicap but with over 2.5 goals trading 1.61, we’re happy to go with that.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Over 2.5 goals at 1.61.
